Gamer.v2 goes green

Making golf greener in its environmental impact is a recurring topic on TST.

The latest TopFlite Gamer.v2 boxes help out in this area. Got four dozen on sale yesterday, and the new box saves quite a bit of paper.

New box is a single piece of glued cardboard which opens up at each long end with flaps. Most golf ball boxes have a double-layer base, covered with a double-layer lid.

New outer box uses less than half the cardboard of the earlier ones. (Individual sleeves still the same.)

I wonder if one of the ball-makers will come out with a 2 x 6 "egg carton" design where you just pop open the lid and take out the balls you need. This would save paper, and on-course sleeve litter, but would conflict with the marketing cachet the ball makers have created.

Where you get the gamers on sale?

Got them at Golf Galaxy - two boxes for $32.99, vs. normal $19.99 a box. I bought 4 dozen, which was more than $50 so I got $10 off on a June mailer coupon.

Golfsmith seems to have a more steady supply - got some there in April - and Sports Authority reportedly has them on occasion.  Couldn't find Gamer.v2 at all right after Christmas.

Question: Has anyone come across recycled Gamer.v2 balls? Recycled would be good for my practice bag.

So, this is going to save our planet (which, apparently is in dire need of being saved)?  By saving a little paper/cardboard per case of balls?

Next is balls that solve in water after a week ....... I used to have a Fly Shop (yepp flyfishing) and we used brown recycled bags (way more expensive than plastic bags with lots of printed advertising, it is so easy to do at least something.
