Have you checked out knetgolf.com?  I have purchased 20+ dozen balls from them and they have all been above my expectations.  Their Grade A balls are brand new with the exception of some having logos, I have yet to find one that had any marring or small fault.  Typically the Grade A and Mint balls are ones that were hit off a tee box once and immediately lost.

Amazed more people do not buy these balls.  They're as good as new and a hell of a lot cheaper.  I think it is just ego and a snob factor for those that refuse to buy retrieved balls.

Always changing:

Driver: Cobra S2/Nike VR Pro 10.5º

Irons: Callaway X-20 Tour 4-9i

Hybrid: Titleist 910H 19º & 21º

Wood: TaylorMade R11 3w

Putter: Odyssey White Hot

Wedges: Titleist Vokeys - 48º, 54º, 62º

First round: February 2011

Yeah, the only time I buy new balls is if I come across a killer deal (such as Dick's having a special of 4 dozen Slazengers for $35).  I lose so many right now that it doesn't matter at all which ball I play, and I certainly do not have the skill or feel to know the difference between types of balls, let alone one that is brand new vs. 99% new.

You may be right that you can not feel the difference between balls when you hit them. On the other hand, you very likely CAN feel the difference between balls on the green -- at least in the extremes. You most likely can see the difference around the green as you hit one brand short and one long more often than you should. Of course your swing has a lot to do with it. But would you change brands of clubs throughout a round and expect to hit chip shots consistently? For this reason, I suggest that even struggling players stick with one ball for long periods of time. As a beginner, it may not matter which ball you play. But I'd say play the same ball.

Heck, if you are buying used balls anyway, get 72 "near mint" Bridgestone E6's off eBay for $60 delivered. Pick any middle-of-pack-priced ball and stick with them for 10 or more rounds at a time. And if you lose more than 10 balls every round, you need to play an easier course, easier tees, and/or take a lesson.

I like playing new balls and I buy in bulk each season off eBay. I will admit that if I'm going to take the high risk/ high return option off the first tee, I'll pull a good found ball regardless of brand instead of one of my nice new balls. On the second tee, it is back to my regular ball.

I've been using Pro V's from either lostgolfballs or Target.  Seem fine to me - and I do think it is important to use a consistent type of ball.  Occasionally I'll get some new Pro V's at a tournament or other event.  Suddenly feel like Gollum in Lord of the Rings.  My Precious!

Literally chuckled out loud (LCOL?) visualizing Gollum holding a sleeve of ProV's. Thanks for planting the image. I'll be looking for the Gollums at the next event I attend that gives away good balls.

haven't used them specifically, but golf ball planet several times and others I play with have used knetgolf with great results.  If you stick to their mint condition balls, great quality and great value. There are lots of decent places to buy high quality used balls.

In my Sun Mountain 14 Way Stand Bag:

Driver - Ping G30 10.5* : Fairway - Ping G30 18* : Hybrids - Titleist 915H 21* & 915 H 24* : Irons - Mizuno JPX 850 Forged 5 - GW : Wedges, Vokey 54.14, Vokey 58.12 : Putter - Scotty Cameron Studio Select Newport 2 or Ping Craz-E-R  : Ball - Bridgestone B330RX, Cart - Cliqgear 3.5

Wow I'm glad I clicked this thread.  All of this somehow is new information to me.  I'm going to order some from lostgolfballs right now.  their prices seem a bit better than knet.  Thanks for the info!

I'm another that's used www.lostgolfballs.com several times over the last couple years.  I've only purchased the top condition balls, so can't speak to the lesser values.  But they've always been good to me.  I ordered from them online Saturday night and received e-mail confirmation first this this morning (Monday morning) that my order had shipped.

What's in the Bag:
Driver: Taylormade SLDR 12*
3-wood: Taylormade Burner 15*
Hybrid: Taylormade Burner 19*
Irons: Callaway XR

Wedges: Vokey 50*, 54*, 58*
Putter: Scotty Newport Studio

So i got my order from LGB and i'm so pleased with the order.  I got a dozen penta 4A's which were on the ok side and 5 dozen pro v1's 5A  the pro v's are mint 1 or 2 with some scuffs.  About half were logos but that is fine with me easier to pick my ball out.  I will be ordering from them again in the future.

Stack System’s marketing materials inflate apparent swing speed and distance gains through selective presentment of data without qualification that purported gains are not the result, in whole or part, of its training protocol and products. * Yes, I'm joking about abbreviating both "SS." SuperSpeed wants: A judgment that the Stack System has disseminated false and/or misleading information in violation of federal and Illinois law. The deletion of all false advertising distributed and recall of all packaging containing false advertising and a requirement that Stack System issue notices (written or otherwise) to that effect to all current distributors and retailers of its products and all distributors with whom Stack System has done business in the past eighteen months. Written confirmation within 30 days of an injunction detailing the manner and form in which Stack System has complied. An order that Stack System disseminate corrective advertising informing consumers, the trade, and the public of Stack System’s unlawful conduct. 3X all profits received by Stack System as a result of its unlawful actions. 3X all damages sustained by SuperSpeed (as a result of Stack System’s actions) The cost of the action All reasonable attorney fees All other relief to which SuperSpeed are entitled and such other or additional relief as just and proper. Oy.
    • I'm not doing this for the hundred and twentieth time. Sorry in advance, but you get the massively abridged version. Those guys also benefited from the weaker/shallower fields. Also, Watson's career doesn't overlap with Jack's like many think it did. Tom is nearly a decade younger. Jack won only like four majors only after Tom won his first. And Tom won more British Opens than he did all three of the other majors combined, as it was his specialty (not Jack's). Arnie's career similarly doesn't overlap Jack's as much as many think.   Jack would also tell you Tiger was the better golfer.
    • Weaker depth of fields for sure. Some of the top level guys with Jack were pretty awesome. Tom Watson had the lead on the 72nd hole of the 2009 British Open, an event where Tiger missed the cut. Old Tom was almost 60 years old. Jack himself at age 58 finished Top 10 at The 1998 Masters and scored better than Tiger, who won The Masters by 12 shots just a year before that.   The success of both Tom & Jack in older age gives some hope that maybe Tiger can find the magic again at some point. He’s still trying to figure out how to build the stamina for 72 holes after the leg injury. I would love to see him jump on the leaderboard in the coming years. I know a lot of people have given up on him at this point, but that was also true from 2014 to 2017 with the back injuries. He had a hell of a resurgence in 2018 & 2019. Would be fun to see it again.
    • Perceptive rules question by caddie unlocks Tour pro’s ‘dead zone’ relief A perceptive rules question by Xander Schauffele’s caddie, Austin Kaiser, unlocked “dead zone” relief during the Wells Fargo Championship.
    • I ran across an interesting new clip, Johnson Wagner went into that spot with the Referee who allowed the relief.  Apparently there was a perfectly reasonable shot to be made, as Johnson clearly demonstrated, so relief from the TIO was perfectly appropriate.
