I have a set of taylormade superlaunch irons and now feel i have gone as far as i can with them.I bought these sticks to bring back my game after a ten year layoff and they certainly helped me alot.I have been looking at adams v3 irons, taylormade burner 2.0,callaway diablo but i am not set on any manufacturers in particular but would like any suggestions as to what people would recommend. Have just joined this great site after uding it very frequently thx in advance. In my bag is taylormade superlaunch 3-aw. steel shaft Burner HT driver Cobra Adelaide putter Srixon qstar balls

Tell us a little about your game. 5 iron distance, usual miss, fat or thin shots, average score, etc...

What performance attributes are you looking for in a new set of clubs that your current set of clubs aren't able to provide?

Take a look at Titleist AP1 and Mizuno JPX-800 / Pro.  If you are interested in Callaways the X-22's are on eBay pretty cheap or new Razr X Tours.

Am i reading this right? 5 iron 220? I suddenly feel inadequate (I go about 175-180 with mine).

In any case, feel around the greens is less about your iron set and more about your wedges. Irons should be about skill level and ball flight desire. I like to work the ball both directions so I have a set of TM Tour MBs and love them. Considered the Callaway Razrs also but went with TM because I am kind of a TM guy (all but putter now). So if you want better feel around the greens maybe invest in some better wedges to start. Lots of great choices there. Also make sure your clubs are fit right. That's like getting a whole new set.

If you are dead set on getting new ones and you are really a 15 and looking to get better then try either blades or muscle backs. Be careful not to exceed your ability though. Nothing worse than a $600+ waste of steel. For reference I got mine when I was about a 13-14 and have improved to a 7 in about a year+.

Good luck and let us know. I've practically worn my faces off already so I may start looking as well.

I would definitely try ebay first, or craigslist if you got the cajones.

DIrect to consumer is always going to get you a better price. But selling them to a store is going to be faster.

  • 2 weeks later...

Well just got back from the course after using my brand new Adams v3 2-6hybrids graphite shaft 7-gw steel shaft using srixon q star balls and I shot an 81 !!!! To sum up the new clubs in a word WOW!!!!! These sticks get the ball up straight and fast ,at a guess I'd say the ball of the 2hybrid was 15 feet up after travelling 10 yards!! They hit clean even on off center shots very forgiving and cut through the rough like the preverbial knife through butter. As a step up  from the taylormade superlaunch I would have to say they are a definate improvement.I also bought the 2hybrid iron  separate and that club rocks!!I was hitting around 200 meters straight as a dye of the first tee and first time using it,pretty good for a new club.

I also bought the Adams speedline fast 12 9.5 driver which feels like they advertise aerodynamically designed and this is a long straight forgiving driver as well.I have a burner superfast same angle and the adams out drove it by 20 yards every time.My buddy who is scared of woods has a ht white burner driver which he hits 210 meters with a tail wind hit the adams 273 meters no tail wind!!! Wont use the word he used to describe his shot but rhymes with duck!!! To say after one round that I cant wait for my next round i'm counting down the days till my next day off work!! Thx for reading and will gladly answer any questions about the new clubs.Thx yours Anthony a new adams v3 owner..
