3 Wood

I wouldn't worry about what club can I buy now and keep in my bag 10 years out. I would buy a good 3 wood and shaft that fits my swing and I can hit now and work into a little so as I improve it still works for me. Maybe you should think about a used 3 wood in very good to excellent condition or maybe mint and never hit at all, they can be found if you do a little surfing for models 1 -3 years old and then worrry about what works 10 years from now about 9 years from now. I have an adams fast 10 3 wood and it works just fine, I'm sure most people have a 3 wood they are happy with so pick a major brand and if you can try it fine otherwise do some research on the net. one thing is for sure whatever you pick you need to practice practice practice with it till you become good with it.

For me, it's the TM Burner I have right now. I've never been very consistent with a 3w until I bought this one. It's the only one I've ever had I could hit both off the fairway and the tee with semi predictable results. I think I hit it 5 times today during my round and every shot was "good enough". With others I've had I'm all over the place from the fairway to the point I never hit them. I tried this one because I got a great deal on it as a mint used model from EW and it just fits me. 

my 15* Titleist 910f. from the first swing with it i knew it wasnt leaving my bag for a LONG long time.

Honestly it all comes down to the shaft and feel and weight of the club head.

For me it's my R11s TP with Fubuki shaft.

It all depends on what you're looking for in your 3 wood, as said in the first response, don't look for a club that you want to keep for 10 years.  If you look for longevity before playability you're putting yourself in a tough position.  I've been carrying the same Callaway Big Bertha Fairway woods for damn near 8 years now and still play them.  I never intended to keep them so long but they play well and are still in great shape.  If I were you I'd go out and hit a few different brands and figure out what you like and get one fitted to your liking.  If it lasts 10 years that's great, if not then you can always look back at it and say that you got the proper club for you at the time.

Take a look on Ebay. I just picked a Cobra S2 3 wood for 20$ plus shipping. Never hit the thing, but at that price, I'm willing to take a chance. You might find a similar deal. If you're not sure how old it is, check the PGA Value guide, it'll at least tell you when it was released.

OP I would hit a few a woods and see what you like and then try purchasing it online, you should find a much better deal online then you will at your local golf shop.
