My putting has never felt comfortable. At times I'm on and at times I'm off...but the confidence is rarely ever there. I played 9 holes this morning and something hit me...I play hockey left handed and I golf right handed (i have no idea why...that's another story for another time) and one of the best shots if not THEE best shot in my hockey arsenal is the backhand. My backhand passes are usually spot on the tape. So I tried putting cross hand today because it's essentially like a backhand for me. It's WAY more comfortable for me. It's going to take a little bit to get used to but I'm pretty excited. Mainly for confidence reasons. Anything under 5 feet felt easy.

Has anyone here made the switch to cross hand? Any tips? Any pros to watch? I know Fowler uses it but I don't know who else.

Another pro to look at would be Jim Furyk.  I think cross handed can be an effective way to putt.  Also if you get a chance I would strongly recommend taking a look at AimPoint green reading.

I switched to cross handed a few years back, then switched back to regular grip, and am now back to cross handed. I found I had a harder time controlling speed with a normal grip and had a much harder time keeping my hands quiet.

I had switched back to a regular grip for a short time because I had gotten a new putter and for some reason could not get comfortable cross handed on it. My putting was terrible during this time, so I eventually decided to try and anchor the putter using an extension, and this forced me to putt cross handed again and my putting improved dramatically. I have since gone to an oversized grip which made putting the extension difficult for me, so I removed that, am putting cross handed, and am putting better than I ever have. I still have the occasional really bad miss on speed for lag putts, but in general everything is better. Not to say that it will work for everyone.
