I got out and played again!

Some highlights below - Reply and share your own stories from recent outings

Highlights:

  • A drive on a Par 4 that stopped 10 yards from the green. Next shot was a chip that literally missed the hole by an inch or two after a left to right break on the green
  • A few shots that landed near the sand but bounced to better locations
  • Met a really cute girl selling refreshments . We talked for a while and afterwords I hit one of my best shots of the day (5 iron uphill onto the green, on a Par 3 that has killed me cause it's totally surrounded by sand)
  • Was in deep rough about 150 yards out from the green. Handfuls of trees in front of me, one of them 60-100 feet tall, and sufficient sand surrounding the green. I almost shat my drawers when I hit it perfectly with a 9 iron and watched it bounce 5 feet from the pin few seconds later
  • I actually hit my hybrid well a couple times. The appearance of it literally throws me off mentally cause I'm thinking OK do it hit this like an iron or a wood

Golf's a lot of fun even when I'm exhausted or sore or mess up some shots

My highlight (on an otherwise terrible round) came on the 18th hole. I sliced my drive under a tree. I then hit a punching driving iron (took club 2/5th's back) and ran it up 140 or so yards, and actually rolled slightly off the side of the green, but still from my lie, and overhanging branches it was a good way to end.....oh wait I three putted.

I was practicing chipping on the practice greens at our local range. It wasn't anything special but I was excited when I landed my first chip-in!

There is nothing like a long putt or a chip-in...

Par 5 480 yards. Hit a solid 5i 190 yards into the wind and stopped 15ft infront of the stream. Hit a nice 2nd shot, 4i down the middle again which left me with a 30ft chip, although the chip was poor. It was nice to get my ball striking back and no hooks!

Took out my 3w on the 5th and hit it solid over 230 yards, missing a crow by inches lol!

Number 10 at Maryvale Golf Course in Phoenix, Az. 507 yard par 5. Hit driver down the left hand side about 275 or so, high 3 wood fade to about 1 foot short of the green. Got out the putter (flag about 12 feet off the front of the green) and drained it for my first eagle in about 9 years. .

Beware of old dudes with old clubs and new grips.

Score? You sure post about a lot of good rounds with lots of birdies and pars, yet you have never posted a score and you tell everyone this is your first year playing.

Are you keeping score by the rules of golf? What is it?

It must be mulligan's golf. With enough mulligans, even I could shoot scratch.

My Highlight of the Day:

I finally played a course with a monster dogleg right, more like a 90° right angle. Well, It was a par 4 375 or so and I just killed it. Absolutely sliced it the entire 90° and put the ball about 30 yards from the pin. It was a thing of beauty. Now, if only I could find a course where all 18 are hard doglegs to the right.
