I played in a tournament today and played pretty well on a tough course. I shot 78 but had no birdies, and played the 4 par 5s 4 over. There were 5 holes where I had under 100 yards on my 2nd shot and couldn't make birdies. I'm usually decent from that range but I only got 1 close. My putting wasnt good but wasn't bad. I played the par 5s awful. The first par 5 is a 90 degree dogleg that I hit my 3 wood too well and ended up in a tough spot and made double. The next I tried to play it safe and hit into a fairway bunker and had 350 left in a buried lie, made bogey. The next I hooked left and made bogey, and the last I had 206, I thought the wind was into my face but it was all over the place, I couldn't have layed up unless I wanted to hit it 100 yards, I tried to hit a high cut 3 wood and it went straight and didn't get caught by the wind at all, managed to save par. So my question is how can I make more birdies, and when would be the best scenarios to attack in. I did have a bit of misfortune on the double bogey and a few other holes, but I still am not giving myself good chances.

The short answer would be to hit your approach shots closer to the hole and overall hit more greens in regulation.

Have you seen this? Highly recommend you check it out, think you'd really enjoy it.
