Callaway Golf officially introduced their new line of Big Bertha V Series drivers and fairway woods, which will be available at retail on August 22nd. The entire new line of woods contains what Callaway calls, "speed optimized technology," which means they're made to swing faster than any Big Bertha clubs to date. This is accomplished through the use of lightweight components, an improved aerodynamic clubhead design, and lightweight shafts and grips.

Interesting

From Callaway: A large portion of the market can benefit from more speed to produce more kinetic energy...

My guess is that this market is for golfers who want to produce more club head speed so control is not an issue. Does that liteweight in head, too, translate to more club head speed. Callaway says it does ... up to 7+ more yards.

Maybe someone not from Callaway can explain the physics. From discussions of previous liteweight drivers versus "normal" weight heads, supposedly the added club head speed cancels out the lack of club head mass to produce more yardage.

45.5 inches, D0 Swingweight, the Lite and R flexes are 42g in the Mitsu E Series 2 Shaft; the S Flex is 56g. The 9 deg version has a Motore Speeder 565 at 56 g and D2.

The 9 degree version has more weight in the head and a slightly heavier shaft for players with speed. Harry English supposedly has it in his bag this week.

It is adjustable to -1, Std, +1, +2, and for lie angle.

Appears to be quality shafts.

$399 due out Aug 22.
