Does anyone know how the application process works when applying for tickets to major championships. Are they free if you are accepted? If not, what do they cost if you are selected? Thanks

I "applied" for U.S. Open tickets to Oakmont. They were $355 apiece, I think, and the most I could buy was two.

Masters tickets aren't really available. U.S. Open and PGA tickets are available on their respective websites... and the Open Championship, I'm not entirely sure. They're never free.

Hrm... I applied for tickets to the 2008 US Open. Two tickets, Friday, $100 each, plus a $5 application fee. I have a confirmation number, but my CC has been billed only $25. Makes me wonder if I have tickets or not.

Update : USGA confirms that I have tickets!

I'm disappointed in the ticket schedule for the PGA Championship next year. You can buy daily tickets for the practice rounds (good at $30) but if you want to see any portion of the tournament you have to buy a ticket for the entire 7 days, starting at $350.

Masters badges have been sold out for the past 10-15 years I think. The only tickets you can buy are for the practice rounds here:

You can only purchase practice round tickets if you are selected in a lottery process. The deadline for submittal for the 2008 Masters have passed but you can always purchase a ticket from someone on the street.

    • My first instinct is don't put grooves in a roll face putter. But, it's your putter so... I think we'd all be in a better position to advise you if you posted some photos.  Let us know what you decide and how it comes out.

    • I play in a family event a few times a year with many 20-30HC players recently I was beaten off the stick by my 23HC cousin hubby he got an 83 I had a shocker 87 ...to have beaten him I would have had to have scored a 66 off the stick !!! my lowest at our local course is 73  ...was his best game for the year ...so many lucky shots    IMHO I'd say your mate won't need more than a couple of years to beat you ..
