I think I'll be putting together a group of 6 next weekend. Obviously in two groups. Any thoughts on how to keep this more social? For example I was thinking we could do two groups of three, then mix up those groups at the 10th hole.

What do you do when you get more than 4  to keep the group social?

I use old Taylor Made clubs from eBay and golf shops.

That's hard to do without backing up the course.  Unless you're all walking 2x3 means 2 guys drive alone in the cart which isn't very social.

Whenever I've played in groups larger than 4 we just play golf in our groups and do the social stuff at the 19th hole.

Mixing up the groups on the tenth would just slow things down because you'd have to wait for the second group to finish. Only way swapping people people might work would be if the 9th or 10th hole was a par 3 and you could wave the second group up.

Well the 10th is a 3 and there is a hot dog stand there. It seems the order of the groups goes to hell there anyway because many people stop to get a hot dog and a beer.

Trying to reshuffle at the turn would back up the entire course as the front group would have to stop and wait for the trail group. When we have multiple groups we simply play a stableford points game and usually throw in a little extra for skins. If the goal is for everyone to golf, and have a good time, it's easy to do....and you can all socialize afterwards at the 19th hole.
