Anyone have any experience with this? I am thinking about getting one, but want to hear some reviews from those who have or have used one. Is it better to have the info on a watch for a quick glance, or am is it better to go with a handheld gps?

Any info would be appreciated.

I don't have the G6 or a watch but I use a G5 while my golf partner uses something similar to what the watches seem to give you (distance to front, middle and back of green). Both are very helpful but with the handheld you can get more info. How far is it to a point of reference or how much is it to get over that point of reference. I can also drag the pin to a pretty close approximation of where it is on the green. It is not as accurate as a laser but close enough for my skill level. If I didn't have any type of GPS then the watch would be a nice upgrade. Having used a handheld system I wouldn't want to go to a watch only.

Thanks for the info. I've been considering the g6 because I have found some nice deals on eBay.

I have the g6 and love it. I am only interested in the front, center, and end of the green ... my goal is usually just to land in the middle or front, the G6 does that for me. I love the watch because it always easily readable and with me. Sometimes I will grab a couple of clubs and walk to my ball ... when I had a handheld it was always back in the cart ... grrrr I also like the feature of syncing the scorecard up with my phone and the Garmin software. I know there are other features like a tempo meter etc, but I use it for distance and score only.

I have a G3 and love it. I friend I play with regularly has the S3 watch and while it's a great piece of kit it doesn't give him as much useful info as my G3 :) Regards Mailman

Thanks for the info. I found a g6 on eBay for cheap and already got it. Cant wait to get on the course to try it out for real in a couple weeks.

So far I have just played around previewing courses on it. I won't be able to go out and play for another week and a half, so I will have to wait to see how it is on the course. But from just looking through course previews and looking at the maps, distances, etc, it seems like it is spot on. Does give you distances to hazards, as well as front, center, and back of green, which is nice. I will give a more detailed review about it after I play on the 15th.
