If anyone wants to say hi, I often go to the driving range at the Highlands Performance Golf Center after work.

It is in Carrollton. Besides that I am mostly in Dallas and Plano.

275 views and no comment. I guess it is because it is winter here and the holiday season?

hEY @Nave ! Sorry for not responding. I am in West Fort Worth. I am trying to heal from shoulder/knee injuries (AGAIN!) so I haven't been to the range or course for over a month. Have a feeling it will be later this month, weather permitting. Let's keep it going! Best, -Marv

Happy New Year!

The Tribute Golf Club is ending it's existing Player's Club membership now that Old American and The Tribute are run by the same management company.  They are now offering two different levels of membership (full and limited) to both clubs and a more expensive Player's Club membership.  Not sure what I am going to do for 2020.  Both courses are super convenient and practice facilities are pretty darn good.

Thank you for sharing. I just looked up the courses online and they look great.

I'm in your boat as well.  I wish Frisco Lakes had a package close to that but I'm on the lookout for something.

Since you wrote that post, old bones are doing much better. Started phys therapy on knee last week and that's doing great! Have gone to the range twice and am adjusting. So, all in all, very blessed to be looking forward to warmer weather and GOLF! Hope you and yours are well and HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL DFW GOLFERS!  Best, -Marv

Recently I started taking lessons at the Highlands Performance GC. Yesterday was my first lesson of the year and it snowed. For that one occasion, the beauty of the snow covered range made the lesson even more enjoyable (although on a mat and under the radiator).

After I complete my lessons in February, I will be looking to either join a country club or use the Golf Now app to find last minute deals and after I familiarize myself with a few CC then choose one that I like (can afford) later in the year.

Happy 2020!

Hello, is anyone still active in this thread? I just found it.

Hey! Not really. We use the main forum for any events or local group outings. This one is used to know who is in the same area.

Hello. I moved out of Texas.

Does anyone want to become the owner of this Dallas–Fort Worth Golfers club please?

Thank you,
Nave

@Nave I am not sure what it means to be the owner, and not sure it gets enough views to keep, but I would be willing to do it.

Thank you @dzclarkcpa It is so I don't delete this in case some people decide to communicate here. Mostly the users write in the general forum anyway.

Either way, I appreciate it. Wishing you all lots of fun golfing in DFW.

    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
