I downloaded the Callaway app on my Roku.  One of the nice short videos talks about the Bobby Jones golf course in Atlanta.  It is an 18 hole course in the space of 9 holes.  They call it Urban Golf.   Each green is a double green with two flags and each hole has eight tees for varying degrees of difficulty.

Has anyone seen this?

I played there a few times when I lived there. Seems like they have done a lot of work to the place. Atlanta has some cool 9 hole golf courses tucked away in places you might not think of. My "home" course was one by Little 5 Points called Candler Park. But sometimes we'd sneak in through the fence and play a hole at East Lake, I grew up close by, so we would walk over with a few clubs we had found and know balls around, no idea what we were doing.

I know that course well. When I was younger, I would regularly play 36 holes a day. You could buy an annual pass for $200 for unlimited golf.

Legend has it that Bobby Jones himself played on opening day. And, promptly quipped, "I'm sorry I lent my name to this cow pasture."

It actually was a fun course. Dramatic views of downtown. Not to mention the drive from Number 9.

I've seen the redesign by Cupp and was recently there a few weeks ago. It's an interesting change and probably good for business. But, If they had just irrigated the old course and put in more interesting greens, it was a fun place to play and hangout. I actually miss it.

True story. A Viet Nam vet describe what it was like to pass the time while jailed in the Hanoi Hilton. He said one of his techniques was to relive rounds of golf he had played at Bobby Jones. I can still do this in my mind, clearly, almost 40 years later.
