Quite a story.  As our club's handicap chairman, one of my concerns every year is handicapping our 20-30 new members.  The access we have to the GHIN system helps but about half have no handicap record.  I always tell the new guys that I hope they play well and enjoy our tournaments but they might want to wait on playing the best round of their life until the 3rd or 4th event.  😉

Peanuts compared to the money in the Deepdale situation, but we can't seem to get through a club championship without someone raising a ruckus about sand bagging one way or another.  In the six years I've been a member we've had people quit after the first round, people quit the Association altogether, arguments and one fistfight. 

It's hard for me to tell where the cheating stops and the paranoia begins. Amateur golf's forever problem I suppose.
