I have been struggling with my irons.  Cant even elevate the darn ball.  Even my wedges were awful at range today.  I was blading them and hitting them right.

I made ok contact in the past, but I was casting the club and scooping shots.  Im now working on shifting my weight to compress the ball, but its not working. I never take divots with my irons.  My take away is great, but everything after that is not. Questions:

1)  What swing thought should I have prior to starting my downswing?

2)  Do I initiate the dowmswing with putting weight onto my left foot?

3)  Any good drills on how to shift weight so I start taking divots?

Thanks for the help.

Went to range today.  If I just focus on rotating through the ball I maje good contact but distance is sacrificed.  For the life of me, I cant seem to shift my weight and rotate at same time.  Lol.  Cant put the 2 together.

I bought some alignment sticks.  Going to stick one in ground right in front of my left foot and work on making sure I contact it with my left hip on downswing.

Watch the first video to get the idea of what happens and how to get that lateral move towards target. Use the second videos drill to work on it.
