Anyone buy these? How do you like them? How is the distance and forgiveness? They were very highly ranked by My Golf Spy, and I really like the looks, and Mizuno irons seem to have a great reputation, so I am planning on checking them out.

My only point of hesitation is that My Golf Spy said they had "Below-average distance" in the game improvement iron category. But I wonder to what degree that is because of the difference in lofts across the clubs. The Mizunos seem to have a touch more loft to them, which may explain the lack of distance. And I was looking at the backspin and descent angles, and it seems like the Mizunos are among the best in the category, so I was wondering whether that might actually be a point in the Mizunos favor, seems like they would have better green stopping power?*

*Set aside the caveat of "get fit" since my swing is still a work in progress (I'm taking lessons to improve it).

I don't have the 921, I have the 919s, and I have picked up a bit of distance vs my Ping G30s. I can't imagine what they could have done to the 921s. It could be possible that the Mizuno lofts are not as jacked as some others in the category. I'm very happy with my clubs, and would not hesitate to recommend them. Mizuno makes some good stuff!

I have recently purchased the mizuno JPX 921 hot metal irons in a left handed. In checking specs they are about 2 degrees weaker in loft than other irons such has the Callaway mavrick  or Taylornade sims. You may lose a little distance but the feel is great and they hold the greens well. I hope this helps

My son has the 921's. Hitting them side by side with my T300's, I would say the 921's are quite comparable in distance. The T300's are slightly more forgiving on strikes out towards the toe, I prefer the turf interaction on the T300's, but I'm a digger. The 921's are easier to work a little bit, and are much better looking. They are both pretty consistent when it comes to distance control.

Remember, distance isn't everything. How close you are is much more important than what number they put on the club you used to get there.

I recently bought the Hot Metals and I love them! I've been a Mizuno guy since I got into golf, but this was the first time I'd ever been fitted and bought new irons, couldn't be happier. Forgiveness seems to be great. I'm a 19 handicap and I can hit these fairly well. Mizuno irons are also just damn beautiful and the Hot Metals don't disappoint.

    • A fairly solid +7 round yesterday with a double/triple bogeys on 15th/17th for my two blow up holes. Still not up to full speed but there is sufficient distance to tackle a dry 6,000 yard course. Anyway, I often forget that the golf swing is sideways motion with a left side leading focus for majority of the BS and DS (for a right hander). That is the focus here dynamically active left side thigh, hip and upper torso with a low, below plane left hand to start the takeaway and a good left last stretch at P4 with hands. It is almost like my left side is shoving my right side out of the way and behind to start of the takeaway. I think if I were to get on a set of force plates now to compare against my motion a year ago (hypothetically since I didn't back then) I would show some good improvement. Hmm... I wonder who has a set that I can access..🤔😉
