Hi all, just a quick question, recently my bad shot has been left , sometimes straight left , but normally starting left of where I’m aiming and curling further left , bad news with my driver . After several lessons and practice sessions it has got better but will always still pop up and damage a good round . I was shown a practice drill where I stand with my feet 45 degrees away from target and my back almost facing the target. I’ve actually played two rounds standing like it and played the best golf of my life , tiny draw down the middle with every club.1st question... why is this working for me ? And 2...am I just masking a problem playing like this or is it just setting me in correct positions . I do find it hard to replicate it from a square stance ? Any answers would be greatly appreciated .

We can’t really comment without seeing your swing. We have a Member Swings section and you can post videos of your swing. I would recommend that. As someone who has fought a hook, I can tell you there are a lot of factors that may produce a hook. The bandaid fix may work for a bit, but you need to find the real cause and change that.

It sounds to me that all you've done is adjust your set-up so your feet are aimed MUCH further right, so that now your "way left" shot ends up in play.  You initially describe a straight to draw shot (starting left), and you still have a straight to draw shot (starting straight, but way left of your alignment).  From your description, you haven't changed your swing much at all.  But I'm just guessing.  As @boogielicious suggests, the best thing to do would be to post some video of your swing in the Member Swing thread.  If you do go that route, be sure to read the Hidden Contents, particularly the link about how to effectively film your swing.

You’re talking about a band-aid. Not an actual solution.

Check your alignment on the range by lining up and then lay a club at your feet. Then have someone check your shoulders.

    • I know you guys were discussing this like a year ago. But, ironically I just had this discussion with my brother-in-law. We literally just did one of these. I'd always used the "Slow-Cook, Rest, and Sear" Method. But my bother-in-law was convinced the "5-Min/lb, 500 degree" method was the way. So, we gave it a go. I have to say it came out great.  I have a 25 year old, electric oven, GE brand... Not sure if that matters, but it came out great. ... Of course we stressed that nobody was to open the oven.   I don't make these all that often so, I'm not sure if I can fully recommend one method or the other, because without doing a Pepsi Challenge, I'd say both ways come out great. 👍😁👍
