does anybody have any idea how much yardage is lost in the colder temps? if i can hit a drive 275 on a balmy 80F, how far would that same drive go if it were, let's say, 50F? are there any sites where this info is available?

It seems to me that it makes at the most a 1.5 club difference (from 100 to roughly 35). Thats in Omaha though, I couldn't tell you how it affects you.

I don't have the answer, but I have a band-aid. I have heard that many men who hit long drives in warm weather will switch to a lower-compression ball in winter times.

Alas, I play 50-55 compression and cannot do this myself, to the best of my knowledge.

I'm tempted to say I lose two clubs, but it's more with the longer ones since winter usually means soggy fairways, and little to no roll.

Since the course dries out and the ball runs much farther in winter here in Colorado, I'm actually longer now than I will be when they start watering again. My long drive today was 310 uphill... and about 60 yards was roll. My normal average is about 250.

i agree.

any noticable difference would have to do with the moisture level (ie hardness) in the turf. of course > cold muscles dont help.
