I played Cleveland wedges when they first came out till around 2002. the last couple years I have been playing Vokeys.  about agi I lost my beloved 50 degree Vokey gap wedge. Went to pick one up and a few other wedges looked interseting.  Since I was at Carls and they have demos of everthing, I tried as lot of wedges on a real range with Callaway balls.  Ended up with a Vokey and a Cleveland RTX in my hand.. I liked thhe RTX because it was easier for me to consistently control the flight and distance. A couple minutes in the fitting room showed the Cleveland spun better on everything but full shots.

Now several rounds into the real world and I am seriously consideng dumping the 54 and 58 Vokeys for more RTX's.  They just seem to be so much more consistent and predictable out of poor lies.

No quality wedges are more "consistent" or "predictable" than others.

I seriously doubt that Vokeys are unpredictable or inconsistent.

It comes down to what you like.

Some like the look of Mizuno wedges. Others are used to Cleveland or Vokey.

It's about YOU, not the wedges. :-) What is important is that you have bounce that suits your course.

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

I play the RTX Zipcore wedges, they’re quite good actually. I like mine more for green side shots than for full shots, I’d rather saw off a ZX5 AW from even 75 yards than hit a 54° or 60°, but that’s just me.

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

I actually got my Vokey gap wedge back yesterday after a twilight 9 holes. I had to break the news to it that it's fired. I found it a new home, it's going into the kid next doors bag, he needs a gap wedge......

    • Our home course would be very interesting.  It is short from the black tees (around 6000 yards) and very few holes are considered not reachable in GIR for golfers who drive max 250 off the tee.  But there are two difficulties.  Only 3 holes don't have an OB though admittedly in some cases it is just behind the green.  The harder part is almost all the fairways slope away on both sides from the centre meaning if you hit a draw or fade, you are likely to wind up at the edge of the fairway or off into the rough if you bounce in the wrong place.
    • I assume the 3 iron in your iron set would do the job.  If you don't have the club, you should be able to buy it as a single club
    • Day 45 (16 Jun 24) -  Happy Father's Day all - got in a few swings with the clubs, focused on alignment for chipping and pitching.  For me if the target it 12noon, I need to have my feet somewhere around 11 for a solid dead on line pitch/chip.  Worked from about 5yds out to 25yds.  Worked through a series of clubs - 54, PW, 8i and 6i - noting flight patterns of each.
