Nike has OPENLY said that the Platinums are for people who swing at 110+ mph. Unless you're pro, i wouldn't suggest those.

I found, when my swing speed was around 85, the Ignites(Nike) work GREAT. They check quick, and theyre long. For 22 bucks, its a save, too.

Well I never really had too much of a preference until recently.

I found a Nike ONE Platnium one day and played with it rest of the round form about hole 3 and never lost it, it even had some deep scratches in it when I found it.

I played the ball great and tried some more of them and I now love the ball. I's my first favorite ball.

Bought some V1's, V1x and HX Hot from lostgolfballs and got them yesterday. Played the first few holes with the V1 and was not impressed. Haven't tried the V1x yet but I used the HX hot the rest of the 9 holes, it has really good distance but doesn't hold up for me on greens. I have a lower swing speed and have difficulty putting spin on the ball so these premium balls probably aren't for me.

I'm going to try the V1x and then HX Hot Bite next but mainly stick with my Bridgestone E6+, I love those.

Pro V1 is the best golf ball. I can't wait for their next generation to come out.

I used the precept EV classic distance. Today for the first time I used the Nike juice.
I much prefer the nike juice as they have a softer feeling. But I don't know about distance.

I like the feel and the workability of the ProV1. It is easy to put a lot of spin on the ball and just as easy to no put any spin on it.

    • He’s got to be the best player that’s never won a PGA-tournament these days.
    • Day 3 (August 13).  4' putting drill;  this is a modified version of the drill from LSW for short putting.   For context, in 2025, my strokes lost putting is more than 2 per round compared to the 15 handicap baseline, just on putts under 10'.  So that's a glaring weakness I think.  Anyway, so I set up 12 markers around a hole like a clockface, all coins, all face up.  I putt from each in turn, if I make it, I flip a heads over (or pick up if it's tails).  This means I have to make 24 putts eventually, ideally quickly.  It took me 38 attempts to do this, although 9 of the 12 coins were picked up either in the first or second go around.   Anyway, the baseline for a "90-golfer" (per Broadie description) is 37 attempts, so that's pretty good, but I'll keep trying to improve.  For anyone thinking about this, the number would be 30 for an average scratch player.   This was done on a real green at a nearby course's practice area.
    • Day 18: a little under the weather, so just some mirror work while watching TV.
    • That's not the right way to look at it, because you're not going to have a rating of 55 or something for even a 6500-yard par 72. There's a minimum rating (depending on the length), and then +s and -s to that. If a course has a bunch of +s and -s that even out, that doesn't mean the course rating is 100% the length. And what kind of math would it be if the course rating was lower than the formula: 103% length? 🙂
    • Day 316 - 2025-08-13 Mental rehearsals today for about 15 minutes as I'm kinda screwed up in some way. 😞
