For those going to Erie for the Oct. 9th Group Lesson, @dennyjones& I were going to try to golf Whispering Woods on Saturday afternoon however the course is closed that day for a large outing.  We may be able to golf on Friday but I have not spoken to @dennyjonesabout that yet as our travel time is @ 4.5 to 5.5 hours and not sure about doing 18 holes after so much time in a car.  We could also look for a different course to play on Saturday.  Comments & Thoughts are welcomed.

They tied my favorite team, the Mariners, for most wins in a season.  116.  Though the Cubs did it in 154 games.  Which is the same number of off topic posts I've made over the summer...

Green Meadow and Downing look like options for Saturday - I haven’t called to check.

Downing is a better course than Green Meadows.

Depending on the direction y'all are going I could recommend courses east or west, too.

@dennyjones& I are coming from Michigan so West of Erie is easiest but I do not have a problem with East or South either.  I do think any courses North of Erie might be too much water for me, I do not think I could clear Lake Erie with even my best tee shot.

Little Mountain is barely off 90. Good course. Solid.

West of Erie.

@dennyjonesand I have a 1:40pm Tee Time as Whispering Woods on Friday Oct. 8th.  We have room for 2 more in our foursome, these will be 1st come 1st serve.  Just post to this thread and I will see them.  They did have a 1:50 available if we need another tee time.

Also, We are staying at the Avalon in Erie, across the street from Golf Evolution and got a room, double occupancy, for $149 per night.  If any need a room give them a call and mention Golf Evolution, that did it for us.

We are still open for a round on Saturday afternoon.  @iacasmention Little Mountain which is closer to Cleveland (@ 1 hr. 15 minute drive from Erie).  I'd do that but think closer to Erie would be better since we have the lessons until 1pm.  We have the option to stay another night in Erie if that helps accommodate a round of golf on Saturday closer to Erie.

Also, we are up for dinner/drinks on Friday night for any of you that are in town.

Cost will probably be a little more than the normal hourly rate since you'll all be getting a decent amount more than what you get in a normal lesson.

I think we'll set that at $100. Normal rate for 45-minute lessons for me is $80, so $100 for five hours of "time" at Golf Evolution seems okay.

Cash is preferred, but checks are fine, PayPal is fine, credit cards are okay if they're not really thick (our Square reader is older).

Oh and regardless of the times posted, show up at 8am, that's fine. Spend the whole five hours there, please.

I’ll join this foursome - my timing is flexible and this will allow me to drive back east after the lesson on Saturday. Will join you for dinner on Friday as well. My wife / sometime caddy might also join. Thanks for arranging @StuM!

Just to confirm and not overbook the tee, your wife would be caddy only, or would she golf? Either is fine.

She won’t be playing - at the most walking with me. If she even comes out to Erie with me! 🤷‍♂️

Sorry for the confusion.

    • Thanks but honestly… I don't know any other way. I don't mind being wrong so long as I know where to go from there. I don't like being wrong — I'd love to get things right (which is different than "being right"). I recommend grabbing a furniture slider or a paper plate or something, and doing something like this: First, make a swing where you let your trail foot swing out as you turn, then twist that foot back in. From DL and FO, it'll look like this: Then, during a regular backswing, try to twist your foot in slightly (demonstrated in the left image): You'll notice a crease along the trail side of your hip, your pelvis will "fold" into that thigh (internal rotation of the hip joint), and your "bits" will be squished a little between your pelvis and your thigh. Ben Hogan said once: "At the top of the back swing the groin muscle on the inside of your rt [sic] leg near your right nut will tighten," Hogan wrote. "This subtle feeling of tightness there tells you that you have made the correct move back from the ball." I don't know about that, but you will probably feel something down around that area.
    • Yep. I think it will start to feel even more athletic when we start on the downswing stuff later.  I know, it's just I want to be younger so I have more time to enjoy the changes. 🙂
    • I need to drop a couple of stone. 🙂 😛    Yep. Yeah, but in the end, it feels more athletic, like you're actually using your legs, yeah? As you know… we use the best available info we have. Like others, I was fooled a little by 2D images for awhile (moving or still). Unlike others, I've learned and grown and moved on since then, while they're still looking at their images (often from lousy camera angles).
    • Day 12 - 2025-12-31 Limited time today, and heavy rains here. 5-10 minutes of mirror work for full swing, working on trail side.
    • Day 2, 12/31/25.  Similar to yesterday (rainy, no surprise), I hit primarily 6-iron full swings with the same focus;  I also hit some chips (about 1/8 swing) with the 54.  About two dozen full swings and an equal number of short shots.  All of this was indoors, off a mat, into a net, real balls.
