Some modern equipment is a little bit easier to hit than the old stuff but thinking that better/newer equipment will make you a better golfer truly is a fallacy.

I went from 20 yr old Mizzys to T300's. Dropped 4 strokes in a couple of  months. They didn't "make me a better golfer", they just didn't slap me every time I made a poor swing.

The only golf book that has consistently been on my bedside table is Harvey Penicks Little Red Book.

I think Penick's Little Red Book is a good read, but it's a little silly at times--like when he talks about sending a bunch of scythes (or weed cutters) to a team of golfers to help them with their swing. I know he was a great teacher because of the students he produced, but his book sometimes seems a little fanciful.

You should read/watch some of Shawn Clement’s material if you find that silly.🤣

I don't think the quality of a teacher is that closely tied to the quality of the golfers.

Or, because he was a good/great teacher, he attracted the better golfers?  maybe a bit of both?

Sounds like we agree.

    • I've been putting whilst looking at the hole and it's definitely helped my distance control
    • I wonder if that is why my home course basically have no stakes now.  Not even markers.  It’s completely up to golfers to remember what is OB and hazard and how things used to be marked.     Even in tournaments, there is no marking and certain areas are played differently by different golfers who either don’t know better or use it to their advantage funny reading thru this with courses that actually have markers
    • is it though?????? "Millions of fans"?????
    • Great post, thanks for the informaiton. I try to avoid adding salt to anything I eat. I tend to add pepper on to my meals as opposed to salt. And I am trying to eat as clean on possible. On golf day, I eat 3 eggs for breakfast (pepper NO salt) and a salad for lunch, with grilled chicken thigs (pepper, garlic, no salt). I have been trying to avoid processed food, but we all slip. I also should have mentioned that the electrolyte packet calls for mixing with 16 oz of water, however I mix in 32 oz of water, so I dilute the electrolyte powder.
    • So if I read the news correctly, the PIF will not fund LIV after this season.  LIV is trying to find new funding and a number of players there are now asking about getting back to the Tour.    I am very, very concerned that Taylor Gooch will not have a place where he can make a jackass out of himself soon
