We've all seen those videos showing a silly pin position in which someone narrowly misses a putt, the ball then rolls off the green, and everyone else besides the person putting starts howling with laughter. It's hilarious when it's just a few buddies playing a weekend round—even with a few bucks on the line. But it hits a little different when it happens during a high school state golf tournament.

Such was the case this past week in Ohio for the OHSAA Division II tournament at NorthStar Golf Club in Sunbury. Get ready to insert whatever "Whoever set the pins had a rough night!" jokes because the hole location on the par-4 12th during the opening round was nothing short of diabolical.

In my humble opinion. That's just stupid pin placement. At any time, tournament or no tournament.

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs.

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

I thought pin placements were supposed to be relatively flat for a two foot circle around the hole? Not an official rule obvs but anyways....

I think that might be USGA recommendations.

Yea, it looks to be right in the middle of the slope, maybe on the bottom of the slope. If you are above the hole, you are screwed. If you did what that kid did, and putt it 3-FT above the hole, you are just asking for it to gain speed down that slope. Yea, it's a stupid pin placement.

Pin placement guy = Idiot

I can 5-putt a flat green, definitely looking at 8-9 putts on that hole
