2 years ago my 18 year old son tried out a friend/competitor's Ping Cadence Ketsch on the practice green and loved it. He tried to find a used one since neither he nor I had the extra money and he had recently bought an Odyssey not much before that. Most of the used ones were still somewhat expensive for their condition so he never got one. He is a lefty so the selection is not as good.

A few days ago he found a good deal on a used Heppler Ketsch in good condition for $162 shipped with taxes at Golf Avenue. He got it today and shot -2 for 9 holes (3 birds 1 bogey) without any warmup putts at all. Needless to say he is happy with it. However being under par has a lot to do with hitting 7/9 greens as much as good putting.

I took a couple putts with it on a mat at home and I like the feel of it and now I want to look for one for me.

It isn't the hours that you put in at practice that count. It's the way you spend those minutes. -- tony lema

I've used both the SS Ping Eye 2 and the SS Anser 4.

Both are pretty amazing for their age.

It seems to me that putter stroke and balance are 2 important factors.

For instance, my Ping Eye 2 putter seems to prefer a slight arc putting stroke as compared to the Anser 4 which likes a straight back stroke.

I seem to go back and forth with this, does anyone have a preference for one over the other?

    • If I can take a full swing, I'll use the stock club for that yardage.  I can't really get creative.  Just don't have that ability.  In the past, I used a sand wedge for all my shots around the green, opening or closing the face and moving the ball back or forward in my stance to get the flight I wanted.  I am trying now to use different clubs around the green.  I'm less likely to flub it but I struggle with distance control.  More practice required.

Lots of interesting info and it's very funny.  Lou is one of the hosts along with Greg Chalmers and Mark Crossfield.  They love to give each other a hard time.  Lou catches most of it, but he takes it well and dishes out his fair share.  Great show.
