The LPGA announced modifications to its Hall of Fame criteria on Tuesday, lifting a playing time requirement that had barred Lorena Ochoa from entry. The LPGA also is inducting its remaining eight founders.

They're also (as you can see from the clip above) inducting the remaining eight founders.

LPGA players earn two points for a major and one point for a win or major award. The requirement for its Hall of Fame is 27 points, 10 years on tour and one major or award. Ochoa had 37 points but played only seven years before retiring to start a family.

They're removing the requirement that you play for ten years (i.e. you still have to earn 27 points and a major/award). They're also adding a point for winning an Olympic gold medal.

Good. If you can earn the points in < 10 years, you still earned the points. I also like that it requires a good standard of 27 points to get in.

I agree and using the same reasoning I don't think there should be an age limit.  I don't know if there one for the ladies, but there is one for the men (although they seem to have had a hard time deciding what the age should be: 40->50->45).

The men don’t have a different Hall of Fame though. That’s the World Golf Hall of Fame you’re thinking of. There’s no PGA Tour HOF.

10 year rule seems pretty stupid. Glad they dumped it. Surprised it lasted this long to be honest.
