Currently gaming mp5 irons and sm6 48/8, 56/10 and 60/10 wedges.

Several questions:

is it me or does it seem folks are playing more bounce these days?

Should I get one 12 bounce and one 8 bounce for my 56 and 60?

prefer non matching pitching wedges, anyone have feedback for mizuno, Taylormade or Cleveland wedges?

My 54 is high bounce and my 58 is low bounce.  I like to have one of each.

As far as non-matching wedges, I currently have MP20 mb’s in the bag and the Vokey wedges fit right in with them.

up until i sold all my old stuff and bought new stuff lol

my vokey wedges went 50/8, 56/12 and a 56/8, the 56/12 was bent to 55

now i have cleveland zipcore cbx's  52/11,  56/10 and 60/10

i also just picked up the set of kirkland's which was 52/10, 56/10 and 60/8

i'm thinking of getting the bounce on the 52's taken down to a 8  the other wedges i'd keep the same

It is what it is

Bounce is only one part of the equation for a proper fit for a wedge.

In response to the original question, it's best to get fitted and see what is recommended for you.  I made the mistake years ago of being an armchair fitter and I got quite a lot of it wrong.  Although one of the wedges I got from that is solid gold and I won't give it up for almost anything.   The others, they just weren't a great fit and when I had people look at my swing, I got much better fitted clubs.

    • My dad had an original Ping Anser that I got refinished. Ping only charged $20 so I figured why not. It’s hard to believe the weight difference between my current gamer (counterbalanced Edel with 25g weight) and the Anser. I’m going to throw a new grip on the Anser and try it out.  I know this is a huge difference and just from a few practice swings the lighter putter doesn’t feel near as stable. I highly doubt it will outperform the Edel but wanted to know what’s everyone’s experience with a lighter vs heavier putter?
    • Right - better can mean different things depending on the situation. It might mean scoring better or it might mean closer to a functional swing (which in the moment might be scoring worse).
    • That's certainly "basic" information. I need a lot more info than just that for a good chunk of my even teen-handicap golfers.
    • As we said… define "better."
    • Phone launch monitors are only getting better.  The cameras are improving with each new generation of phone and software is getting more accurate.  It is only a question of time before phone apps are good enough for all the basic information a golfer needs (club head speed, ball speed, carry distance, total distance).  It makes me wonder about the value of launch monitors in the long run, barring high level amateurs and professionals who want very accurate data and more parameters
