When he says "this part of the world", if he means all of North America, maybe.

In the US, no way. I could possibly see futbol-soccer being as popular or more popular as MLB and NHL**, but I don't see it eclipsing NFL or NBA. I grew up playing soccer, and still love playing and watching (playing doesn't happen that often anymore), but the professional leagues here are nowhere close to the rest of the world where it is the #1 sport.

**Someday...I don't think this happens in four years.
