it's very tempting...

It is tempting, but I would like to try it out before I buy it, I think some of the larger golf shops around might have it. Also I would like the price to come down a bit.

Keep us posted on any progress, and if you are still using it down the road.

I'm still using mine. In the living room. Just a few strokes now and then to make sure I'm still on track.

do you think it is helping you to gain a more consistent stroke? and are your putting numbers going down because of it?

I think I've already answered these questions (unless you're not asking me).

Yes and yes. 19 rounds this year, averaging 28.32 putts. A few of those rounds were on greens that had been aerated, too, which was bad for the total putts numbers. Last year I was a good putter at about 30.1 putts per round. Just over 1.5 putts per round may not sound like a lot, but it is. My short game has sucked so far this year, too - unlike most of last year, or else I'd probably be saving around 2 shots per round. Inside of 20 feet before, though I was trying to make it, I didn't fully believe I would. Now I do. I start nearly every putt on line.

do you have to chock down on your putter because it sits the plate which is a little off the ground?
do you feel any major difference putting on the z factor from putting on real green because you are gripping at the different part of the grip?

No. It's about a quarter inch higher than your putter would be if you were making an actual stroke at the ball (i.e. and not scuffing the ground). It's adjustable, so I could make it higher, but I don't. I leave it as low as it can go without scuffing.

I don't grip a different part.

I'm on board with a Z-factor now, starting from a higher base point (avg. 34 putts per round so far this year) than iacas. I'm a streaky putter (been cold lately) but I sometimes miss shortish putts (generally on the right). I'm hoping that the z-factor helps reduce these, because it helps you feel the correct line on the followthrough, making you aware of any inside-out push strokes you make. My goal is to bring my putts down to an average of 30 a round or less by the end of the year.

The z-factor doesn't totally guide the putter, as was implied earlier. If your stroke veers off the correct line the magnets will detach from the putter face. It really helps you feel what keeping the putter face square to the line really feels like.

I've only had the z for a few days. I'll post again after a few weeks of using it.

Well mine arrived last week and I like it. Of course since this is golf, it's definitely not a magic cure for your putting problems. If your stroke is decent (no big lurches, plane changes, etc), you only get very subtle resistance to tell you what's wrong. My usual problem is not releasing the toe of the putter and hitting a slight push. The z-factor definitely identifies it but I have to concentrate to feel the push on my hands that tell me I'm not quite keeping the toe moving.

I tried to spend about 10 minutes every day last week w/ the z-factor. I went to the range today and putted better than I have in recent memory so I'd definitely say it's helping.

Greetings,

My Z factor arrived this afternoon and it took about 10 minutes for my three year old and myself to assemble it. After playing with the settings to get the proper stroke feel, my initial impression is I think this will help. As a beginner it is reassuring to watch ball after ball fall into the cup, all the while knowing I am not teaching myself bad habits.

I'll post more follow up as I practice with the Z factor.

For those that are hesitant to shell out $300, I've found a cheaper way to get one. Z factor ebay store If you choose the older model it is $199.95 + shipping.

I saw the pro at a golf club I was on Saturday using one. It was funny because I was like 'what the heck is that thing?'...He would use it every five minutes then take a break...

Wow, for $199 I'm really tempted now...anyone know what the difference is? i.e. whats the 6th swing plane that the $300 model has and are there any other differences?

On a side note, anyone think we could get a discount for a group buy? I'm sure if TheSandTrap could get 100 buyers, they may give a substantial discount.

I just got my Z-factor a few days ago and have been practicing on it.
have not been able to get on the greens to see improvements but will post if any. What is the better setting for the height, even or have on side lower?

Whatever feels better to you. I like to keep mine pretty even on both sides.

    • Congrats on the improvement. Cheers for lots of continued improvement in the future. IMO you've gotta get away from these spots… Those are partly "results" as the work will begin on things earlier in the swing. Good luck.
