I think you mean "Chambers Bay".

All I know is that it will host the U.S. Open in 2015 and that it won almost every "best new course" award possible in the year it opened.

Pretty hard to argue with that.

An update for anyone wanting to play Chambers.

Chambers Bay has proclaimed May as Pierce County Resident Appreciation Month. Residents can invite up to three guests residing outside Pierce County to join them Sunday through Thursday and pay the Pierce County rate.

Resident fees for May through September are $95 Monday through Thursday and $115 Friday through Sunday. Players from outside the county and not playing with a Pierce County resident would normally pay $155 and $170, respectively.

It's weak that they don't have an intermediate Washington resident rate.

i have played Chambers a couple of times from the Gold tees (6541 yds, 72.2/129). its a gorgeous course! a bit pricey, but worth playing for sure. It should get a lot harder as the grass grows in around the waste areas that dominate the course because you can easily find your ball as it stands now. the fairways are great and the greens are a bit hard, but what can you expect from a new course

man I would love to play there... but I'm on such a limited budget as it is, 35 for a weekend round kills me, but I'll have to make it down there to play... Course looks beautiful and hard.

About a month ago or so there was an online article about a nighttime vandal(s) trying to chop down the lone tree on the golf course. While the culprits didn't succeed and to date haven't been caught there's concern the tree might not survive. One of these days I will get down there but it will be on a winter weekday to take advantage of the lower green fee.

From Tacoma here and live about 3 miles from Chambers Bay. Now I may be bias, but it is the most beautiful links course i've seen. I run the 3 mile public trail every week around the course and it's got the most picturesque scenery at each hole. I have yet to play there, but my wife bought me a gift card there for my b-day a while back. Best time would be to play in October when the weather is crisp, the crowd is less, the resident fee is low and greens are soft. Highly recommended to hire a caddie to shave a few strokes off. Only drawback is the high winds that never let down (guess that's all part of the links style).

Hey, I went to high school just down the road. Charles Wright Academy on Chambers Creek Road. Haven't been back there in years, though. Guess I have an excuse now.

I haven't played it (yet), but I was in Tacoma for work one day, so I drove to take a look. SO nice.

When you drive up, the clubhouse is on a cliff, and the course sits down below at sea level. At first, it's difficult to comprehend how amazing it is, because there are no trees (except for Lone Fir - the one some nutball tried to cut down), so there is no immediate perspective. The course looks a little small and unimpressive. But then you notice the tiny golfers and you start to develop a sense of how grand the course really is. Then you notice the tee placements, and the rolling fairways. And it just gets more impressive from there. Once the native grasses fill in the hillsides, it's going to be one of the most beautiful courses in the country. A true links gem. And its a farkin' MUNI . How cool is that?

Can't wait to play it.

P.S. Does anyone know if they ever found the person who took an axe to Lone Fir? I was down there right after it happened, but haven't heard any news since they announced that the tree would probably survive.

I'm going to be up there in a couple of weeks and will be playing this course but I was wondering what other courses are worth playing up there. I've played Druids Glen and Port Ludlow. I've heard the UW course is nice and Gold Mountain also but don't have a lot of input about these or if any others are better than these. I probably will be staying by Seatac.

I checked out the Chambers Bay web site, and the course looks gorgeous! And they're going to host the 2015 US Open! How about that? I had no idea. Now I definitely have to check it out next time I'm back in Seattle.

I'm in the South Sound and can recommend the Home Course in Dupont and McCormick Woods in Port Orchard. I haven't played the UW course but it is much closer to SeaTac than my recommendations.

You won't be dissapointed with Chambers Bay!
