It's PGA Tour, not PGA.

She Reported a PGA Player for Domestic Violence. What Didn’t Happen Next.

SI reviewed emails and documents regarding two allegations against Champions Tour golfer Tom Pernice Jr. They showed the Tour’s actions—and lack thereof—were problematic.

The main point that I takeaway from the article is that I hope the Tour develops a consistent policy for how to deal with this type of behavior.   Both to protect their image, but more importantly protect anyone involved with them from abuse.   The Tour cannot change someone’s behavior nor can they charge someone.  But they can suspend just like a private employer can suspend or fire someone who does they find out does this.

I am very disappointed in the PGA Tour for not handling this better.  I understand (but do not approve) when, in team sports, an interested party participates in a cover-up or pressures a commissioner to do so (see also John Mara threatening a law enforcement official a few years ago).  I don't understand why the PGA Tour would have any interest in doing anything except throwing the book at him once they knew.

I also don't understand how any professional sports organization doesn't have a domestic violence policy.  It's been almost a decade since Ray Rice hit his girlfriend in an elevator and the fallout from that -- you'd think every professional sports organization (and many others) would have checked, at that point, that they had a policy and enacted one then if they didn't have one.

I'm obviously disappointed in Tom Pernice Jr, too.  Prior to hearing this, I thought of him as a goodie two shoes.  Wow did my opinion of him change in a hurry.

    • I run a FB group and we book golf rounds sometimes multiple in a day.  Can anybody recommend a good app or online tool for signups other than Events
    • Played Musgrove Mill today and they have lost 2.5 holes to Hurricane Helene. Course is 72.5/155 for the full 18. Played 15 normal holes and a converted par 3. The bad: I have been working on start lines with my putting and doing really well. On aerated greens I putted terribly today. Multiple three putts and a four putt! The good: I used to hit a lot of approach shots pin high, but not much lately. Today, I hit 8/15 pin high after changing my right foot angle! The great: Hit all tee balls today where I intended. Hit every fairway and all the par 3s. The only par 3 green I missed I chased it all the way to the back of the green and it rolled 1” over on a 185-yard shot.
    • I have watched it twice.  Opened my right foot a little today and had my best approach shots in quite a while!
