I would be interested if I didn't have to buy golf shafts and have them reshafted. That would cost me like $500 to do.

    • I’ve always loved how the old golf illustrations captured more than just the architecture of a course—they preserved the atmosphere around the game itself. One of the pieces I recently restored was this early view of the 18th green at Troon. What drew me to it wasn’t only the clubhouse or the championship history, but the quiet feeling of the scene: spectators gathering near the clubhouse, the soft coastal light, and the sense that golf at the time was as much a social tradition as a competition. Most modern golf imagery focuses on dramatic aerials or pristine photography. These older works feel different to me. They’re slower. More human. Almost documentary in character. Interestingly, this became my first recent sale—a small 5x7 framed edition—which honestly encouraged me that there are still golfers who appreciate the historical side of the game and the artistry surrounding it. I’ve been restoring and collecting more of these early golf scenes lately, especially from places like Troon, St Andrews, Hoylake, and Gleneagles. Curious if anyone else here enjoys vintage golf artwork or has favorite historic course illustrations they’ve come across over the years. https://www.theheritagelinks.com
