I always thought of reverse C as excessive flexion in the finish position and not as side bend but the swing changes make sense. The lower spine doesn’t really like to bend too much no matter what plane the movement is in.

It used to be that, but I think he kind of didn’t call it exactly that and was referring to it more at impact.
