Has anyone else gone through this and what happened? Did you quit? Work through it? Or did you become content with a lesser game?

Late to the party here. But, yeah, most of us have gone through something like this.

I've been playing since 1993. My HCP has been as high as 36 and as low as single digits a couple of times.

In addition to what everyone is saying above. Some really good advice from @saevel25, @3jacker, @gbogey and of course, @iacas. Here's another thing to try.

  1. Find some kids in your life that you like.
  2. Invite them to a par-3 course. (We have one by us where most of the holes are 50 to 90 yards. The longest hole is like 140 yards.)
  3. Play 9-holes at a par-3 course with 1 to 3 young kids.
  4. Repeat steps 1 through 3 until you are smiling and loving golf again.

Back when my kids were little, my wife and I would take our son and daughter out to the par-3 course. Then she and I hit all the tee shots then the two of them would chip or putt until they get the ball in the hole. My wife and my son vs me and my daughter made for a pretty close competition and a lot of fun. Be sure to laugh at yourself.

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs.

A mix I am forever tinkering with.
