I am in the market to buy a new or mint+ used driver. I am a high handicap player that usually uses Regular Flex Men's 10.5 degrees and I golf right handed. I can't shot shape the ball and have trouble always hitting the ball in the center of the face and it usually goes off to the right and out of play. I am trying to hit straight all the time so I can hit more fairways, also on off center shots I would like the ball to be in play so I don't sacrifice strokes all the time. I usually look for forgiveness, distance a little distance lost is ok if I am hitting more fairways then that is what i want, adjustable or non adjustable is fine, price is also a factor around 100 but under 300. I also need help getting the ball in the ball in the air and going higher. Any recommendations or other help when buying a driver are welcome and thanks

I'm looking at Ping SFT driver.  Straight Light Technology.  Supposed to stop the fade or slice to an extent.

Certainly BUY used so many near new Drivers in Good condition that will suit ...which IMHO the shaft is the most important part if you want to buy new get a shaft new that suits you then find the head you like the feel off

Being a better coach than a player as I am. I suggest staying with 10.5 degree driver. At this point all. A new club will do is inspire confidence. Which is a good thing. Now to keep that confidence try to envision the back of your left hand  in line with the club face. In essence the feel will be to smack the ball with a back hand slap. If the ball is still moving right with no hight. Then move the ball up in your stance. As a last resort to conquer the slice, try and hit the ball with the toe of the club on your downswing. You can’t do it perse, but the ball will have a hard time going right anymore.

The research I have done suggests that you have this backwards. The head creates the performance of the driver. The shaft will change the feel.

Spend that money finding a swing coach you can work with.

In all seriousness. don't be afraid to go out and get lessons. It can take a while to find a swing coach that's right for you. I've had a myriad of them, some good, some not so good. One that I'm actually friends with, but he wasn't right for me as a coach. I work with @iacas these days, and he really helps me... I call him Yoda. I'm sure I improve more because of his lessons than I ever would on my own. Finding a good coach can be like finding the right spouse. ... possibly more difficult depending on where you live.

Secondly, don't be embarrassed to post a MySwing thread. A lot of golfers are like "eh, I don't want everyone to see how crappy my swing is." Don't be that golfer. Be the golfer who says "My swing needs work. Here's where I am at the moment."

Anyway, that's my 2 cents.

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs.

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

    • Was pleased with my round yesterday for a change. Not at the level of most on the forum so probably easier to please. My goal is generally bogey golf and with age that’s beginning to be a struggle. Started with four doubles but managed to right the ship and have my best round of the year, 88, through seventeen rounds. Realistically I won’t get any better but can be more consistent which is now my goal. Will be 80 later this year.
    • Day 15 - Full swings closer to the ball (probably too close, to exaggerate the feel), some work on a faster backswing, and some chipping.
    • Day 40: 3/19/25 Chipping practice followed by some slow motion swings.
