Just wondering what everyone views as an "ideal" ball flight. Many people tend to think that the draw is ideal. Although it may be longer, some of the greatest ballstrikers in the game hit a fade or have a fade as a "go to" shot (Nicklaus, Woods, Palmer, Trevino).

Also, please state your current ball flight and whether or not you are satisfied with it.

I hit a very small draw (usually never more than 5 yards). I would describe it as mid-low as far as height goes. I play in a lot of wind so I am very satisfied with that trajectory.

I play a very straight Ultra High shot. Which I like, but is tough in wind conditions,

but then again I can play it low in the wind If I'd like.

It is early in the season here, historically I hit a slight fade. I call mine a baby fade. If not perfectly straight then a slight fade. But I have been taking lessons and some shots on the driving range are baby draws now. Need to play some more to tell about what happens on the course.

I play a draw with my driver. I generate good swing speed, 100-105MPH and find that drawing it gives me the extra distance I'm looking for.

With short irons, I tend to fade the ball. It's just easier, for me, to hold off the shot with a short iron. I get really good height and the ball lands softly. For me, when I'm shooting at a pin, I want the ball to land and stop.

With mid irons, it's pretty straight. Longer irons, again, it's a draw. Hybrids are both, off the tee but more of a draw from the short grass.

My ideal ball flight pattern is straight, and my default is a slight draw. I prefer to have a mid-high ball flight which also happens to match with the 12-14* launch angle and mid 2000 spin rate that gives me good distance.

Irons: RAC MB TP Wedges: RAC TPPutter: Spider Ball: (varies ) (Most of the time): TP Red or HX Tour/56---------------------------------------------------

My ball flight off irons varies between straight and a 10-15 yard draw. I'm not really sure if it's considered high/mid/low.

My driver varies between straight and straight to the right.

Low-Mid trajectory with everything with a slight fade. I try to use mostly 3/4 swings and finish low with the wind up here in the midwest. I rarely hit a full iron, almost always take more club and do a punch/knock down shot.

My go-to shot off the tee is a giant banana slice, aim 30deg left of target and land it in the right rough or the parallel fairway.

depends. some days i'd hit draws and some fades. not sure why, just swing inconsistencies i guess.

A high slight draw with driver. I'm pretty happy with it. Slight draw with most irons, pretty high as well. I would like to lower my iron ball flight a little.

I hit draws, fades, slices, pulls and hooks. Never a push.

The problem is that I never know which shot will show up.

Does "pull" count as a ball flight?

My "go-to" shot is a draw, especially with my driver + that is my natural flight. However, like most of you, I'll shape my shots as needed. Also prefer a low-mid ball flight.

    • Day 1: 2/26/2025: So, I'm starting over on this again.  My son brought home the mother of all flu bugs from school. It raged though our house and knocked me on my butt for about 3 days.  Now, that I think I'm clear of the death plague my son gave me. I was able to rise early this morning and get some nice mirror work in. I felt stiff like a board for the first few swings, but loosened up and was able to get at least 20 minutes of first robotic slow swings and then gradually more fluid swings.  My focus was on the timing and fluidity of my priority pieces.
    • I use a MagSafe connector on my tripod. Occasionally I use those clips.
    • Working on some swing videos. What are you guys having the best luck with as far as devices used to record the swing?  I have a tripod with a magnet that I stick my phone on but it is somewhat of a pain because I have to remove the cover on my phone and when I pull it off the magnet the tripod head changes and moves position. I was thinking something more like an ipad maybe. On a different style tripod and maybe even set it up to mirror to a tv.
