Is it bad to pitch and putt inside for kicks?

I was just attempting to pitch into a box to give me something to do because it's raining outside. Is it bad to do this on a carpet surface? I would think it would be ok, since driving ranges (here anyways) are turf...

Well, I'm doing it down my hallway, so there's no windows or anything. I rung the box out of 24 times :) Not too bad for my second day owning clubs IMO.

I don't think so, hitting pitch shots will give you a good feel and you'll get to see how the ball reacts. Just need to make sure that you practice that on the course too. As far as putting on carpet as long as it's short carpet you should be ok, if it's longer carpet just focus on the stroke.

Pitching - keep in mind that carpet is slick and grass is not slick. You may adopt a softer swing where grass requires a firm swing.

Putting - depending on the carpet - your results will vary. I find that builder's carpet in office complexes are the best putting surface since it's smooth. Typical house carpeting isn't that great since it's too slow, but it's god for learning your putting stroke.

However, YMMV.

If I can clip it clean off a carpet, I feel like I'm capable of doing anything with it. It's great practice.

please, don't try flying from a tall building, try to see if you can take off from the ground first

We started by trying to chip it into a cardboard box. The bos was about 12x12. I think I got 3 out of 24 rung shots! We then swapped over to trying to chip it over a box that was about 3 feet tall from about 3 feet away. Keep in mind, neither of us are experienced golfers, so this wasnt easy.
