-option 1 is the golfer who makes it seem like all business. -option 2 is the golfer who seems to take the game seriously but enjoys the company of others. -option 3 is the golfer who is usually playing just for the enjoyment of the game. -option 4 is the golfer who just glad to be out and playing. i've been out and seen all 4 options on the courses. i'm just curious to see what the demographic of players we got out there. you can be a scratch player and still be an option 3. its more like attitude while playing with others. personally i feel that i would enjoy the game more if i was in a group of options 2,3. too quiet is no fun, too noisy is too distracting.

i figure if you want it quiet on your turn, that you would give the same courtesy to other players as well.

Chatting keeps my mind off of the shot which helps me stay loose. If I am by myself I actually take my zune out with me. I don't think I could ever play with anyone that takes the game too serious.

I went with option 2, but If someone talks during my backswing it doesn't effect me too much.

I chose option three. I have to get used to noises and rambling. If I ever make it to the big time, I'm sure there is going to be some type of racket. =]

i went with 3. in our high school golf tournies, i tried to at least get to know the opposing golfers. i mean, i'm quiet when they hit, but i'll say good shot and talk to them while we are walking. some guys on my team just ignore everybody.

I'm a two. I try to be quiet when other people hit, and I want quiet when I hit, but I like to talk to people in between shots, it just helps make this great game even more fun!

Option 2. I enjoy getting to meet/know new people on the course, but being quiet during anyone's shot is a matter of respect for both the game and the individual. -LBB

I would say that I like it to be basically as quiet as possible when I swing. I don't mind if I here someone on another hole talking to someone else or something like that.
I'm as quiet as possible when someone else near me is hitting.

Right now I really don't mind cars, golf carts, airplanes flying by, people talking, or anything distracting me. I do focus on what I'm doing and don't pay much attention to anything around me when I'm in my shot bubble.

However, I also don't have a complex pre-shot routine, and I don't spend a lot of time agonizing over every shot like a more serious player. I'm sure that when I start getting better I might want a bit more quiet atmosphere around me.

My thoughts as well, when I played for school I didn't like to talk to the kids from other schools in my group.

But when it's just a fun weekend I like #2, why take it so seriously when theres nothing on the line except pride.

I'd like to think I'm a bit of the joker in the group, funny remarks on MY bad shots (or a really close friend). I try not to take things to seriously.

I went with option 2 assuming that courtesy is extended to other players in the group.

Typically chatting on the way to and on the tee box while getting ready to tee off. Between tee box and green, not much talking as we are all headed to our balls (generally in different directions). On the green is where the most talk is....as you come back together as a group and discuss your adventures on your way to the green. That's how it goes in most of my groups. lol

I voted for #2 but in reality I am probably more between #1 and #2...I am a serious person in my attention to detail as having fun to me on the golf course is performing well...I can get quiet when I am not performing up to my expectations and I have even been told I can become somewhat withdrawn from the group, however, when playing well I do not mind chatting between shots about things other then golf but when it is time to perform I switch back into serious mode and expect people to respect my right to concentrate on the task at hand...clear as mud? ha! ha!
