I had been playing horribly on 10, 11, 12 and 13th this afternoon. That is until I teed up on the par-3 14th. Shazam! HOLE IN ONE!!!!

Here's the ball:

October 28, 2005
157 yards with a 6-iron at the Par-3 14th at Tahoma Valley CC (formerly Nisqually Valley Golf Course). Landed 10 feet in front of hole and rolled in.

The hole plays slightly uphill and there was a 1/2 club wind in my face. I hit a low draw and she just hit the green and rolled strait in! First hole-in-one and first eagle!

UPDATE: In the interest of full disclosure, here's the nine holes I played...

Par-5 10th: 8 (ouch)
Par-5 11th: 10 (ball went in the water after punching out of the trees)
Par-4 12th: 10 (3 lost balls)
Par-3 13th: 4 (Moved the ball back in my stance and struck the ball way better. I'd been pulling everything left off the tee.)
Par-3 14th: 1 Booyah!
Par-4 15th: 5
Par-4 16th: 5
Par-4 17th: 4
Par-4 15th: 4

I think moving the ball back helped!

Congratulations! that's awesome man. Wow, that 12th hole must've been a monster. Did you have a witness?

What kind of ball were you using there?

I was playing so poorly I took the Pro V1 out of play by hitting it into the woods and teed up a Maxfli Rev Tour in it's place. Gotta save them Pro V1's for better days! Glad I was using my "high spin" bargain ball that didn't check up too much .

I was playing alone, but there were a couple of guys passing the green as I walked up to it, so they saw I had the ace.

Congratulations, Jeff! You've gotta feel like a million bucks after that one! Looks like it got the remainder of the round back on track, too.

So you really had three "1"s on your card for the day. Except two of them had numbers after them.

If the ball is too far forward the club gets the chance to close more and will go left, yeah... Now you know. Over the top moves can pull the ball too. Anyway, congratu-friggin-lations! As for not actually hitting the shot with a Titleist, well, you used Titleist clubs and if you keep the fact that you didn't use the ball, I could agree to keep it our little secret . A hole-in-one deserves many Dancing Bananas!!!

Thanks for the tip Erik... I have a little gift coming from Titleist

I could make a good case that its tough to start well at Tahoma Valley CC... there is no driving range so you just tee it up and hope for the best . Two tens and an ace . Thats golf for ya.

Thanks for all the congratulations... I've decided that getting an ace is a bit like getting struck by lightening: You never know when it might happen and when it does its a shock.

You know, I didn't care one bit about those back-to-back 10's after the 1 and I was glad to get on track for the end of the round too. I want to keep that feeling with me.

Here's to some more aces at the ST!

welcome to the club Jeff !
Maxfli will send you a gift too - looks almost the same as Titleist - a nice medal-style bag tag. I was lucky enough to get both tags - used Titleist ball and Taylor Made irons. Titleist lets you register on their website, for TM I wrote a email asking about any souvenir for making h-i-o with their irons and they sent me the tag + sleeve of the BlackMax's (it wasn't even out on the market yet back then).
Next time we'll play together with you, Erik and Josh - make sure to stand next to me on the "GOOD GUYS" side of the tee box

How the heck did I manage to miss Jeff's hole-in-one post? That is crazy man! You have to email me when something like that happens!!

That great thing is that you finished well after making the ace. Wow, I don't think I'll ever get an ace, but that will define my golfing career if I ever do get one.

Awesome stuff man!

Thanks Cody. The ace was pretty special. I felt like I'd won the lottery.

Given a choice between the two, I'd take the lottery.
