It went pretty decent. Shot a 64 through the front 9. We skipped some holes on the back, so I don't have a legit number for it.

Is that horrible for the first time out?

I'm addicted, and dying to go back.

My first time out, I think I shot a 64 for the first hole

I'm exaggerating, but 64 is just fine. You'll see a sudden drop after a few rounds as you get used to being out there.

I've been to the range attempting to prepare myself about 10 times or so, so it's not like it's the first time I've swung a golf club or anything.

I'll probably be able to go a good bit when I get a solid playing partner. If I go by myself, I'll lose every ball Its $8 to walk 9 in the town where I go to college, and $15 to ride 18 when I come home on Fridays. With those prices I can afford to play once a week. I like this picture, I hope I actually have decent form in it

Get a pro to show you how to properly grip the club and how to properly swing it, at least once.

I asked the owner at the local driving range if he offered lessons. He was laid back and said, "Yeah, but they're expensive. Hang on a second..." and he proceeded to grab a bucket of balls and walk with me out to the range. He showed me how to grip the club, how to stand, how to swing, and basically gave me a 20-minute "Lesson 1" on golf.

let me tell you... changed EVERYTHING. Now I wasn't hacking the ball, but I was actually hitting it.

I played my first 9-hole last Tuesday, and the guys I was with couldn't believe it was my first time out. I shot a 56 on 9 holes, and I was super amazed at how well it went. I owe it all to a man named Steve who owns the driving range in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He made the game fun for me, too, since now I feel confident in what I'm doing.

Good luck! have fun with it.

A "Golf 101" lesson will do wonders for you. From the pic, I can see that you've got a few things to work on, but you are on the right track. I am by no means an expert--I just realize the value of a good lesson. It really makes the game a bit easier. Enjoy! -LBB BTW...a 64 is not bad at all. Congrats on your first outing!

I have no idea what I shot my first time out. Over 100 for 18. That was 40 years ago. God I'm old.

Oh yes, take a few lessons before you groove bad habits. Good luck and have fun!

You are a little late shifting to your left side. Other than that, the legs look good. I'm gonna guess this ball went right.

64 is not bad for your first nine. I was 10 or 11 my first time - I'm sure it was worse than that because I had never had a club in my hands before.

You

I think this problem appears exaggerated because his ball position is so far left, move your ball a bit more towards your right foot in your stance.

Congratulations on your new addiction!!! At least it's a healthy one. Hey, it's your first time out. Don't even think about the score. It doesn't matter. What matters is that you had a good time and you want to keep playing. Start studying the golf swing, work on fundamentals (even if you have to bite the bullet and take some lessons) and enjoy yourself. You'll find that there are many benchmarks in scoring. First you'll rejoice that you've broken a hundred, then ninety and so on and so on. You'll always want to make a better score but that's part of what's so great and makes golf the sport of a lifetime.
