Just got my Titleist AP2's

I just turned 16 and for my birthday my parents and other relatives wanted to buy me some new irons. I had been asking for years. I have been playing Nike NDS irons for the past 3 years and they were fine for a while, but now I am about 6'4 and the irons had standard length shafts. I got my irons fitted for my swing.

I got the Project X (6.0) Shafts, 3/4 in up from standard, and 2 degrees upright for the lie angle.

As you can imagine it is taking me some time to adjust to the new clubs. Especially the length because with the shorter irons I was forced to stand very close to the ball which caused me to have a very steep swing.

I was hoping if anyone had any advice on how to make the adjustment a little smoother. I was thinking about hitting some balls with my new clubs then switching back to my old clubs and back to my new clubs again to get used to the differences.

Well They are paying for about 250 for them and out of my 2 grandparents they are paying 200 each and then I have to pay for the rest, but I am still very happy. Who wouldn't be.

I remember getting a new set of clubs as a kid. I was stoked!!

By the way, 4.9 index and you are only 16? I'd have loved to be able to play like that when I was your age!

Now I realize how old I am, I just used the term "when I was your age."

try choking down on them for a while about a 1/2 inch or so the change doesn't shock your system and just kinda ease you way to full length.

when i got my ap1's it was wierd i went from a graphite shaft big bertha 96's to stiff steel ap1's my had to adapt alot..... when i first played with them i couldent get the ball in the air for the life of me now im all good..... i have to swing a lil more firmly on them with the stiff steel compared to reg flex graphite...... OH YEAH CONGRATZ MAN ENJOY THEM AND HIT'EM STRAIGHT

Ahhh you're lucky man... I wish my parents give as a birday gift my irons... but that would not happen.. enjoy them and congratulations!

I got my irons fitted for my swing.

If your fitter did a good job you shouldn't need to adjust to them.

The irons should be fit to the way you setup and swung during the fitting session. As far as your distance from the ball I think you should be standing pretty close. Nick Faldo wrote in his Golf The Winning Forumla book that if he took another person of his same height (6'3" - 6'4") and had him setup in his foot prints the person would feel extremely close to the ball.

i so want those irons. what are they like compared to a blade? im sure with a few weeks of practice you will get used to them and it will be like you never switched

Not sure if it will do you any good to keep switching back and forth from your old irons to your new ones. That may just prolong the process of becoming comfortable with your new clubs. I say put the old clubs away in the closet and concentrate on your hitting your new ones!

Sweet, enjoy them!! How long did it take for you to receive these, when where they ordered? I just placed my order last week (with PX 5.5, + 1/2" and 2* upright) and was told it would take almost a month to ship - hard waiting for these to get here! :(

congrats! just got mine today as well. ordered it on may 19,2008. custom fitted 1"down, 2* flat. 5.0 project x. played a round with them today. wayyy longer than my mizuno's. par 3 160 to the flag measured with my laser range finder. pulled out my 7 and shot it pin high. with my mizuno's, my 7 would max out at 150. mizuno mp-32 with r300 shafts.

Sweet! What ship date did they originally give you when you placed the order? Curious if they were conservative with the estimate and were able to get it out earlier? I'm about two weeks away from my ship date, and am hoping that they can ship sooner - hard waiting!!

They told me Titleist would ship June 14th and will be seeing it around the week of the 21st. So yeah, it's way earlier than they thought! I hope you get yours soon! I love mine!
