So I'm wondering what people would recommend for courses in the
Nor-Cal / San Francisco Bay Area. I life in SFC.

I personally play Monarch Bay San Leandro and The Met in Oakland.

I like longer courses (7000+ from the blacks or tips) and fast greens.

Any other recommendations?

harding park.....hosting president's cup in 2009.....and if you wanna drive 25 miles and pay a bit of $$, Ocean course and old course at Half moon bay are incredible

Stonetree golf course also,class course and a little tough.Indian valley is pretty good course,fast greens and a beautiful layout,only $60 on weekends to walk and green fee's are good all day.

You're in the city, otherwise I would have other recommendations for you - I'm in the Peninsula and I play courses in the South Bay and Peninsula - Stanford is my home course, but if I wander, I go to mostly Cinnabar Hills and Palo Alto Municipal. Rarely, I'll go to Shoreline Golf Links if the geese are not there.

      Day 51 (yesterday was 50, not 59 -- that was a typo).  I didn't have a ton of time today.  I hit a dozen balls with a 6-iron in my practice room.   Amazingly, after this I did the ShotScope analysis of yesterday's round;  my approach play was at the 5 hcp level.  That's pretty darn good, but unfortunately for my score, some of that came from hitting a few good recovery shots.  But I also hit some really good approach shots that weren't from trouble!

      Shot a 37 today! Palmer Course, PGA National. Really fun. 6/9 GIR, no lost balls. The double and the bogey were both three putts from like 35 feet or so.  The birdie at the last was really fun. I stood over that fifteen footer and thought wow I’m really about to make this, aren’t I? And I hearted it. Really fun. It’s like 9000 degrees outside but I battled through it well. Good times.

      I had been in a bit of a slump for the month of June. Handicap index has slowly risen, and there were few sub-80 scores. Today was a different story at Leslie Park GC. Lots of solid shots, GIR's, up & downs, for a 77 (7.8 differential). As with most rounds, there were a few loose shots and crappy putts, but it was a good day.
