i was just wondering how many people had driven a par 5?

there is a thread about driving par 4s and i thought i would start this one.

course i play (occasionally) has a massive dogleg par 5 downhill, its 370 yards to fly it straight on to the green, i havent holed the putt for 2 yet but it will come.

Never had the opportunity to drive a par 5. Ive come within 125 before extermely down win im talking 40mph hole was 515 or so. You tee off a 35 ft cliff, more carry less roll but with the wind it carries forever. Obv not the norm LOL. I cant even remember playing a par 5 that it would be possible to drive in 1.

to be honest i dont anticipate lots of people having driven par5s, i just thought i would through this out there as there is a thread asking if anyone has driven a par 4.

i should say that the hole i play does play as a difficult par 5 if you hit down the fairway its about 520 down the middle, but as i said its a massive dogleg downhill (only discovered the course 2 years ago) i think i may just quit golf when i make the 2.

I have had about 5 hole in ones on Par 4's which would be an albatross, double eagle, hole in one. Whatever you would like to call it.

To bad it was all on video games.

Mike Austin and Sean Fister, maybe.

I've seen people hit driver, lob wedge to par-5s, but I've never seen par-5s driven.

at my course there is a downhill par 5 about 450, in the summer if you fly it about 290 it hits a steep slope and can run onto the green, pros done it, v lucky though, cos the green is raised and the ramp is about 10 yards wide. Often hit Driver wedge into it but still not particularky easy as v.tough green.

Pro's done it, more luck than length, i reckon give me and my playing partners 150 pro v's each, one of us would make the shot once.

In a golf digest interview Sean Fister said he drove a downwind 512 par 5 once and had a 12 foot putt, but he's a world long drive champion so I can't really see it from anyone exept if it were a big dogleg hole.

Unless they hit the cartpath and bounce it allll the way there.

If anyone hear claims they've driven a par 5 it better be under 450 yards because I won't believe it.

I don't think anyone has done that.

I've played some really horrible courses with fake par 5s you might be able to drive. If anyone drives a par 5 hole that's over 450, please let me know.

When I was playing on thursday we had about 30 sustained / 40 mph gusts and there was a short par 5 (white tees were up - maybe 450) playing directly downwind and the course was very hard (as in dried out not difficult). I smoked a driver to around 100 yards out and I'm not a particularly long driver (maybe 250-260 tops with no wind and normal conditions). I ended up with only a birdie after pitching over the green (not complaining) . I could easily see a big driver like my uncle getting to this hole in one from the whites (blues were back another 50 yards or so).

Back in the mid 80's my uncle competed in long drive contests and could get it out there 350-360 with the technology of the day and with the wind and dry course he could have gotten it to the green on this hole (maybe not now because he's in his 50s but he could have 25 years ago).
