He's really annoying.
He focuses more on trying to use big words when he discusses golf, but he misuses them like crazy. As an English major I am insulted. Why does he even have a job with TGC? He sucks. He's won like one tournament in his whole career.

He's really annoying.

I haven't paid a ton of attention, but I've not heard him mis-use any "big words." Got any examples?

He and Frank Nobilo tend to be much more favored (by me) than Brian Hewitt. Ugh.

I kinda favor Kelly Tilghman myself. I didn't realize there were other commentators.

The whole U.S. Open pre-game show is an example. I'm a big fan of Frank Nobilo. He knows his stuff.

One thing I don't understand is why don't they play anymore? It seems like they just retired in their 40's and now they are waiting to play on the Champions Tour.

Kelly Tilghman is still hot even in the post-"lynch" era. Is she a decent golfer?

They didn't exactly tear it up. A steady paycheck - for some - beats the toils of competing against, oh, Tiger Woods.

She was when she played, yeah. Same too for Steph Sparks, who won the North and South IIRC. Sparks was sidelined by a bad back, again IIRC.

I hate Tiger Woods. He's great for golf, but he has terrible character. He gets way too much credit, and he does not get enough criticism when it is due.

The guy I really like is Feherty. Sure he is funny and that is what he is used for, but I can't help but shake the feeling that he would be an outstanding guy if used more and asked for more straight answers with the occasional wit.

I disagree here. John Hawkins is one of, if not, the best The Golf Channel has. I highly enjoy watching him on the 19th Hole. He speaks his mind, and I'm a fan of that.

Like Erik said, Brian Hewitt has to be the most boring in history. Brandel Chamblee isn't the best, but he is far from the worst in the golf world.

Let's stay on topic. After all, it's YOUR topic.

John Hawkins kicks butt. Agree, agree, agree.

Brandel Chamblee isn't the best, but he is far from the worst in the golf world.

Agree again.

Again, I agree. Rich Lerner is the worst.

I have to vote a positive for Chamblee. I don't find him annoying at all. As for the Hawk, he rocks!

The 19th Hole is my one 'can't miss' show on the Golf Channel with both new commentators. Having Vince back as host makes it that much better.

Yeah, I dont know what it is about him. Maybe I need to watch more of him and ill slowly grow a liking. I like someone who speaks their mind as well, but I just get the impression that he thinks its his way or the highway.

That's kind of what the show format asks for, isn't it? You need to read some of his written work...

It beats having the wet rag that was Charles Davis and nd the "no credentials" Steve Duemig.

I like Brandel. He does nothing to annoy me. I can't stand Rich Lerner. His segments are way to over dramatic. John Hawkins is great! I love to hear him speak his mind!!!

He's really annoying.

I don't have a problem with him. Bandel is a bit dry and boring and I do like Nobilo quite a bit more but I think they work well together and deliver the information pretty well.

One thing I don't understand is why don't they play anymore? It seems like they just retired in their 40's and now they are waiting to play on the Champions Tour.

Well, I'm sure they would rather be playing too

There are lots of 40 something former players doing these types of jobs so I wouldn't point to them as anything out of the ordinary. Gallagher Jr, Andrew Magee, Baker-Finch, North, Pate, Feherty, Faldo (he's 50 now...), Azinger, I see Faxon on there sometimes, there are just lots. Doesn't every mid 40's guy who either had a mediocre career or totally lost his game get into announcing? Maybe not but it seems like it.
