Couple years ago someone (more than one I guess) broke into my home course and dug 40-50 big holes in 12 of the greens at my home course. Feuding neighbour or something apparently. Was far worse damage than the swastica, but that story really sickened me even moreso....

I don't know if it would be any better if they were just punk kids. If that is the case, someone needs to enlighten them quickly. I have zero tolerance for stuff like this.

Back in the Fall of 89, there was a big deal made about how we had the right to burn the American Flag. I was at a Halloween party when some jackass, wanabe punk, tried to do just that. He went out back and put it on the ground and lit the edge of it. Everyone was bothered, but didn't do anything. I walked up to it and stepped on the flame. He called me something and said "I have the right to do this." He tried to light it again and I grabbed the lighter out of his hand. He started bitching about how I was interfering with his rights and shoved me. Wrong choice. I laid him out with one shot.

I have lots of friends that are Jewish. I work in an area that has a very large Jewish population. There is a great Holocaust Memorial Center just down the street from my work. One of my old barbers was in Auschwitz. Unfortunately ignorance and hate are far too common. As I have gotten older, the flag has come to mean even more to me. Regardless of views on the war and politics, it still represents our country. The same holds true with a persons religion. I am not big on religion, but I respect others and their views.

Niiiice @ one shot...I guess you caught the sweet spot on that one

Though I'm wondering if he gave you a reason as to why he was burning old glory ('just for the heck of it' is what I deduced). I for one am not religious...but I was born, raised, and still live in a predominantly Jewish neighborhood. My best friends (I play golf with them too) are Jewish. They sometimes consider me an honorary Jew! (I join them in their Jewish drinking holiday festivities...and who could turn down lox and bagels?) My father is actually from Germany (he was born in 1935) so anything 'Nazi' in the news always pushes my buttons. Sad to see there are bigots/racists in this country still trying to prove something. Why they would do it to a golf course befuddles me as much as it angers me. WHYY!!??!? Anyone here at this forum go to the course in question?

I laugh at and also get scared at what would happen too people if they got caught doing that at our club.

Last year about 10 boys (my age, 17) were on one of the greens, took out the flag pole and threw it in to a lake, one of my mates who was there at the time walked up to the boy grabbed him and threw him in the lake and told him to get it back

      While it does turn out that both Tiger and Phil are less squeaky clean than I previously believed, I don't think golf quite has the worst in professional sports.  Or maybe they're better at image management.   Obviously I'm not fond of Phil's issue we're discussing in this thread (or his involvement with LIV) or Tiger's choices of how to drive.  I used to really like Dustin Johnson and, even before the LIV situation, we started to hear rumors that he bought more snow than Seward, although I don't think those stories were ever substantiated.  Meanwhile, I did think of Anthony Kim as the "good, bad boy" of the tour for a while fifteen years ago because of his party persona -- and if it turns out the worst he did was show up hung over to play (barring what one thinks of LIV), that's pretty good.  And I'm still happy he found a way to get his life clean. If we contrast that with some other sports I enjoy, I'm sure we could find a nice long list of NFL players that, at one point in my life, I was quite fond of, we get far worse disappointments (to put it mildly).

      Answering that properly would land me in hot water, so I'm not going to. I don't think that many people would do that. I think that in certain circumstances many people would be willing to overlook someone doing that. But I was really referring to what I assumed was Tiger's transgressions (cheating on his wife) not Phil's.
