My Dad is 58 and has been playing for around 40 years. When he was playing a lot about 10 years ago he was down to around a 2 handicap. Now he has less time to play and carries a 6 handicap. He did shoot a 73 last Saturday though. I enjoy playing with him a lot regardless of how well either of us play. In fact, I'm meeting him at the golf course in a couple of hours for 18!

My dad gave golf a shot 8 years ago when I first picked up the game. He plays only once or twice a year, so needless to say his game isnt all that good.
He still has fun playing the game though and thats really all that matters.

my dad golfed frequently before he had us kids and says his best round ever was an 88. he said it got to expensive to support 4 kids and golf so he gave it up until I picked it up 4 years ago. he now shoots in the 100's because he only plays once a year.

My dad was around an 11 handicap when he taught me to play, I was around 10 and never really took it seriously. I only played with him a handful of times then he got too busy and gave up playing. He always figured when he retired he would pick it back up but now after double knee replacement it is not an option, sure wish I could play with him again.

my dad has only played golf once...and he nearly killed me too...literally! i dont know how he did it, but he hit his tee shot and it hit the tee box marker on the next tee up (which was concrete) and it came straight back at us nearly nailed me in the head! i pooped a little, but i was able to wipe it up with my towel. so....hes not very good, but it was funny to watch him play

Long post...sorry....only way I know to discuss it.

My father is 60 years old, but it sure doesn't seem that way. He seems like the vibrant, hardworking, humorous guy he's been my whole life.

He's playing some of the best golf in his life right now....shooting low to mid 80's. I think he's playing about 3 times a week.

He says he's retired but is putting in some serious hours in yet another lucrative endeaveor. The man has a huge work ethic and knows how to make his way in life.

It was funny....when I was growing up, I distinctly remember conversations my father and I would have about golfers and how silly we thought the game was....waste of time and all that.

When I was in my mid-twenties, I started playing and immediately fell in love with the game. I found out that my father started about that time as well. His father, my grandfather, started within a month or two of us as well. He retired and moved down to the beach to live and played tons of golf.

Our games have followed different paths but have developed along.

We have been blessed with many hours on the course together....time that I don't see that we would have otherwise spent together. Sadly, we lost my grandfather a couple of years ago and I stopped playing....it was too hard.

As fate would have it.....my 8 year old son has developed an interest and we picked up a US KIDS GOLF set for him a couple of months back. I knew that I'd need to be able to offer him a presentable game if I were to have any credability as his initial "teacher" or "helper". I dusted off my sticks and got back into the game in late April/early May.

Next week is gonna be really special as my father, my son and I plan on playing a few rounds on the course that my father, grandfather and I spent so much time playing on. It'll be the first time I've been back there since his death.

I thank God for this opportunity. We live three states away and don't see each other as often as I'd like. This is really going to be special.

Oh yeah.....Dad is now hitting his Ping driver off the deck on par 5 second shots.....and he routinely holes out lob wedge shots....I've got a feeling that he's gonna wax my arse. It's a beating I'm looking forward to.

My dad doesn't play at all. Never has....
Still a great guy though....I don't hold it against him.

My dad is terrible. He loses a ball or two every hole! Yeah, every hole. He's lucky if he breaks 140 let alone 100. My aunt hits low 80s. Her lowest is a 79.

My dad is a very good golfer, at 67 he still carries a 3 handicap. He has won most of the tournaments in the area at least once. When I won the club championship last year we became the first father/son to both have our names on the trophy.

His next goal is to shoot his age. He has come within 1 shot several times. He plays everyday and he and I play together once or twice a week.

My grandfather was also a low handicapper before he died. At 85 he still had a single digit handicap.

my dad is getting a little old but I'm still a little young, I think on fathers day we played 18 holes and he beat me by 2 strokes so he's still got it in him.

    • Day 23: weird day, and only had a little bit of time. Just did mirror work again, working on where the elbow is in the downswing
    • I flipped over to this tonight and thoroughly enjoyed it. Anyone else watch? I picked it up during the golf relay event, but seeing these pros out having fun in alternative events was refreshing and entertaining. I’m sure it will be on in reruns in the next week or so, so I won’t spoil the outcome. Im curious what others thought of it. I’m recording it’s later airing to see the beginning.
    • Day 443 - 2025-12-17 Made a few swings in testing some things out at another academy. Might pop up on someone else's podcast in a few weeks.
    • Day 37 (17 Dec 25) - nine hole round with my good friend.  We got paired up with a couple of the men’s group regulars as part of their shootout.  Started off with a wonderful quad bogie and then a dbl on three to be six over thru three holes.  Game went 180° over the next five as I shot one under (including a chip in birdie on hole six and four up and down 1 putt pars) for a net finish of five over. What could have been a really tough nine became a solid finish due to staying in the moment and not checking out.  Great day in course management and keeping perspective .
    • Day 127 12-17 Backswing and flow practice. Took advantage of the 60 degeee weather(it was 20 degrees Sunday)
