I've been on a hybrid kick the past few days, tried a bunch.
I am so-so on the Adams Pro Tour older model, I either hit it great or horribly.

I tried the new FT and it was "ok".
Today a local shop had the older FT model for $99 new so I gave it a whirl.
Wow! I am amazed! I am hitting it really far and I can actually work it. LOw, high, straight, or draw. Can't fade it yet.
But, well worth a shot if your looking. Many places have it for $150 right now on sale.

I am a huge Adams Hybrid guy. THey were the innovator and they work the best FOR ME. You might want to try one of the newer models. They changed a few things.

Adams make good hybrids, you wont be disappointed. I have an FT-Hybrid, the older one from 06 I think, and I love that club. Its supposed to be played more like a long iron, but it flies like a fairway wood.

Well, the FT saved my rear about 4 times tonight on 9! The Adams I am just not hitting right. Just one of those things I guess. What I do like about the FT is that is covers a few clubs very nicely. I am not a big hitter at all. It is the 4h and I can hit it a wee over 200 if I kill it, comfy around 180-190...But the nice thing is the ability to back off and still be able to work it how I like down to about 160 yards. This is the first hybrid I've played (had a few) that makes me understand the term utility.

Have you tried any, or basing it on the look and feel? They have changed my game completely.

That's what I used to think, until I got one of the FTs in my hand. I never liked the look of hybrids, but, I have the 2iron replacement, and it looks more like a 5 wood than some nasty hybrid. I love the thing.

I hit my sonartec really well but havent found as much sucess with the Adams. I found the Adams real cheap used in great shape but as a 5 irons hybrid I'm not a massive fan.

This winter I'm going to pick up a 4 hybrid for the holidays and am seriously considering an FT (have only hit the older one and I loved it)

I get pissed because I can't stand stock shafts so then I have to tack on so much money to have things reshafted! Such a pain in the a**

Another round and the FT keeps making me happy (even after a shitty round!). So versatile, low punch shots from under trees with accuracy and distance. Workable, etc. MY new favorite club! Maybe it is time to check our their 3 wood.

I have a couple of the old FT hybrids, the 2, 3 and 4 to be precise. Don't use the 2 that often as I prefer to carry a gap wedge but I love those clubs. Where I play there are quite a few long par-4s with 190-220 yards approach shots and these clubs are perfect for that distance. My only gripe, admitedly small, is that they give you a high trajectory which can be a problem when windy, but the consistency and accuracy I get from them far outweighs any issue with height; great purchase!

The stock shafts generally don't add much. With a company not set up to deliver clubheads only, it'd cost you more to get the clubhead only because they'd have to make a super-special exception for you.

And some clubheads come with a pretty wide selection of stock shafts, and offer fitting and trimming options to suit. Maybe not from Callaway, but other companies.

    • To flog this subject even further, if that's even possible, this article from Golf Monthly just appeared today in one of my news feeds. Written by a golf writer in the UK who I never heard of, he's basically saying that there should be only 3-5 rounds from the most recent 20 that should count towards the average and only competitive rounds should count. He claims the erratic scorers would have less of an advantage than they do now. He makes a lot of references to "club golfers" in the UK being the ones who are mostly dissatisfied. https://share.google/qmZZBEoJvOxHxJGil  In my experience with my league where we have golfers with indexes ranging from 5 to 40, looking at the weekly results from the past two years, I can detect no pattern that would substantiate the claim that the current system gives an unfair advantage to either erratic golfers (aren't we all?) or higher handicappers. Apparently though, at least in the UK, this seems to be "a thing."
