With my wife a non golfer, I have yet to take a golfing vacation. However, this year I plan to fly down and visit my uncle who has a winter home somewhere on the west coast of Florida. He is an avid golfer and we hope to get in a few rounds. Many people from around here (upstate NY and VT) head down to Myrtle during winter break.

I've never gone on a golfing vacation. My uncle and his crew travel to the Pinehurst area most years. They used to go to Myrtle but have given up because, in his words, "we're too old for the night life, we go to bed at 10 now." (My uncle is about 50).

My fiancee golfs, so this summer we're looking to do some weekend trips to places in PA, nothing big. And before this I lived in FL, so I didn't really need a golf vacation. I was there.

iacas beat me to the punch. I live in the Hilton Head area so I don't have a need to go on a golf vacation but if we do, we usually go to Orlando in their off season or Jacksonville (hidden gem with lots of courses).

JCgolfpro; The Mrs and I just brought a piece of property in Conway SC.at Wild Wing Plantation and hopefully will be living there in near future.Howdee Neighbor!!!!

Unfortunatey being in this neck of the woods I cant get there at the momment.

But i just got back from a two week trip to Malaysia to play and it is the best value golf holiday you could ever take. You stay at the Sofitel palm Resort which has 3 championship course all of which are used on the Asian PGA.

And for a big suite, breakfast, Green fees and motorised cart and caddie $75 Australian Dollars a night. Plus in the area there are heaps of other traks to play.

Cheers.

My uncle used to go to Myrtle Beach every summer, but he's kind of settled down and gets over to the Pinehurst area now.

I heard a good one at US Open this year. They were debating the positives andnegatives of Myrtle Beach and Pinehurst. One person said ...... people who play golf on vacation go to Myrtle Beach and Golfers go to Pinehurst. How true .... and i'm in the golf business in Myrtle.

Flap .... I live about 4 miles from Wild Wing, off Belle Terre GC. We'll have to hook up to play. I'm a casual golfer and not real serious just enjoy 4 hours away from the family. I have 3 little girls that, WHEW, are a handful. Email me and we'll see about playing.

This is one of the things I would really like to do. I'm 38 and have yet to ever take a real vacation. This would be a great golf vacation! I also consider moving there every now and then, but leaving Salt Lake isn't an easy decision.

I've been to Myrtle a couple of times with the family on holiday. I think it's a terrific golfing break - there are so many quality courses to choose from.
BNlongdriver, have they increased the green fees at Myrtle recently? it's 4-5 years since I've been, but we used to average $35 using coupons from hotel lobbies. don't they use this system anymore?
I'm trying to talk my non-golfing (but very knowledgeable wife) in to going to Myrtle in September. However, she's very keen to visit Italy this time, so I may have to wait until next year.
I'll take you up on your offer - what are the 'must plays' in the Grand Strand (or anywhere in Myrtle really).?

The rates here depend on the time of year you come. A course in Spring could be $185 and in the summer $75. With 118 courses their is a wide range of prices during the summer from $29 to $110. You can play most an average course here for $35 in early/mid Sept.

Rates increasing .... some yes and some no. Their alot of competition here and the lower end courses are stable while the upper end one's continue to rise.

Must plays .... here are a few off the top of my head ....

Kings North
Tidewater
Caledonia
True Blue
Rivers Edge
Pawleys Plantation
Heritage

I'd be delighted! it may not be this year, sadly.

Out of the list you mentioned, I've only played Pawleys, so I've got a lot to look forward to

    • Day 22 (12 Feb 25) - Short session with 7i into the net in the backyard.  Was not the best session - struggled in getting the face squared up.  Took a few steps back and did a reset.  Better contact second time around.
    • Nope, and a bit too expensive for what I usually spend on clothing. Not sure if these pants are the kind where they are like business casual but also can be worn while doing athletic stuff (like working out).  I do own a pair of pants from VRST, and like them a lot. They got a business casual look, but very stretchy. I forgot my gym shorts to volleyball on Monday. I had these pants on and had no issues. You can literally go from work to the gym. .
    • 100%.  Currently, it takes me several shots of various progressions to make my brain even trust that it will work.  It is so opposite from the feelings I have had for years.  And forget about adding any speed at the moment. That is just a recipe to fall back on the old habit
    • I haven't either. But there doesn't seem to be any reason why at least the pants would create any issues.
