Papa's getting a brand new putter for Christmas

I have decided that I have had enough of my old Winex putter (I know, it's second-hand, and I've never heard of the name either).

Instead, I think it's about time to get a Scotty Cameron and join the masses of Cameron fans.

I'm wondering, what is the benefit of the iridescent Studio Design finish? I've seen rusted Studion Design putters: is there a benefit to having a rusty putter, like there is to having a rusty wedge?

Finally, are there any recommendations for SC putters? Tell all of your Cameron glory tales here!

I can't see ever wanting a rusty putter, but thats me. I don't mind it on my Oil Can wedges, but thats a different story. Scotty putters are awesome, the Newport 2 I have feels great (I should be getting it refinished sometime this spring). Make sure you get the right length. I think a lot of guys (like myself) make the mistake of getting a "stock" 35" putter when they would do well to play on 33-34" in length. Beyond that, its up to you. I'd like to pick up a Newport 2.5 one day... it doesn't have the plumber's neck. Enjoy that putter when it comes!

I just picked up this baby for xmas. I was trying other putters, but this one felt very solid and not too light which I liked. It was kind of pricey, but oh well. I'll probably keep it forever. Plus, I'll probably use it the most out of all my clubs lol.

I'm looking at buying my first cameron by the end of jan. I'm not too keen on the inserts that are in the newer one though. Anyone have any feedback positive or negative aobut them.

Better with or with the inserts?

If you don't like the insert, you can always get the studio style which is just the milled face. I believe it's cheaper and has a nicer finish on it. ;)

I have a Pro Platnium that does not come out of my basement.But that being said I am going to treat my self to a Red X next week for my birthday.Hate like hell to give up my Yonex Blade but I'm bored so.

Before going all Titleist in November, I was using the Phantom 2 center shafted mallet and it was a nice feeling putter. I am now playing the Newport Studio Style with the insert and it just unbelievable the feel the insert makes. It feels better then the Phantom 2 or the Studio Design I had before that. I did try the Odessey 2 ball tour model but never felt comfortable with it. Have played SC's for about 4 years and feel that they are worth every penny. Just my take on it.

I've had two black gun-metal Camerons in my life, a Newport Two (which I still have) and a Coronado which Erik sent through the Cameron shop . I love the feel of the black Camerons more than the newer ones. They are a bit softer and more pretty to look at if there isn't much rust.

Currently I'm playing a 2-ball, but if I switched the first putters I would try would be anything Cameron. Solid, solid clubs.

Fairways and Greens.

I'm a big fan of the anser design, but was never satisfied w/ the light weight of the putter. When I first tried the Cameron Newports, that did it for me and I bought one even though it was more than the driver I have now. :p It's a very solid feeling putter and I love it and don't think I'll replace it unless it's another Cameron.

Hey forum. I made really simple little Scotty Cameron Putter site that shows you all of the Scotty Cameron ebay listings at a glance just by clickin. I find it useful, I know a bookmark would have a similar effect, but i set this up to be even simpler. Let me know what you guys think:

      Thanks and it already has! Like I said, the last three months of my season were the best golf I've ever played. I'm within the realm of "this is fun for me" now. It was super tough grinding thru that break 90 consistently zone where I just kept hitting the toe, I kept popping up and out of every shot, getting steep. I am one of those guys doomed to shoot 95 forever if I don't really put a lot of work in, and I just wasn't gonna go out like that. My goal is definitely to get to that point of playing lots of courses and stuff like you are, but it's been the right thing for me to focus on developing a better motion. The amount of gym work too I've had to do? I see a DPT with TPI level 2 certification twice a week. I'm in the gym five days a week. The sun zaps the crap out of me for the gym too and I need that energy for all the other things I do on top of this stuff. I'm not really trying to become scratch either tho that would be nice! I'm just enjoying the puzzle that is golf, trying to overcome its challenges in an efficient and smart way. I'm very aware of the physical limitations I'm fighting so this summer has been continuing to address those with a good therapist.  But that's awesome, my goal is to get out there and enjoy new courses, play more rounds, just like you're doing! We'll see how this season goes, but I might be near doing that, if I'm not there already. I was only losing like one ball a round over those last three months or so, which is great for me on these sometimes tricky Florida courses.

      Good luck and I hope it all pays off for you.  I play in 2 year round stroke play tournament leagues.  I enjoy it, love the competitiveness and enjoy both groups and playing different courses every week.  My goals these days is not to be come a scratch player but to shoot under my age.

      😄! I'm not kidding, man! The summers here are pretty rough! I'm not playing at sunrise or sunset though! Seriously, I brought a buddy of mine out for a round in June and he's normally good at handling heat and even he was like "yea this isn't very fun" after about 9 holes.  Keep in mind, I'm not really "playing," either. I'm grinding on the range, making my swing better. It's not nearly so bad if all you are doing is playing and riding a cart, never trying to change your golf swing. But that's not how I experience golf. For me it's like 5 range sessions for every round? It's just how I like doing it, I don't like ingraining my bad move by playing a lot of rounds. And keep in mind, this is a luxury for me. I've played non-stop for three straight years, working on my swing. It's definitely trickier grinding the range in these conditions. And I needed a mental break from it too. My dad for example, he plays thru the hot summer conditions, but he never gets lessons, never works on his game. It's just rounds for him, usually at sunrise. He never gets better. I've decided to take a different path than him in this game. The months away are good for me to do something else because disciplined practice, really thinking about what I'm doing, and trying to change things can be mentally tiring.
