R7 Superquad vs. Burner vs. Tour Burner

Which one do you like more? (pros and cons) I want to replace my R580 but I want to stick with Taylormade

I am a TM fan myself, and have played all 3 clubs. I still have the SuperQuad and the Tour Burner - I sold the Burner.

SuperQuad - Nice for adjusting the weights to manipulate ball flight. Great price right now, as it is "older" technology.

Tour Burner - Currently in my bag. The head is a bit smaller than the Burner, and looks a little more "traditional".

Burner: Head was a bit too large looking for me (the silver trailing edge was distracting.

Either the SQ or TB would be great, but I prefer the Tour Burner.

I demoed the Tour Burner and I really like it a lot. However, I found that I hit the MP-600 a little longer and with less dispersion. Plus, the Mizuno was $399 and not $599. I will be getting the Mizuno to replace my R580, but the Tour Burner is by no means a bad club. The set-up and profile at address are similar. I don't think that you could go wrong with it.

I've only demoed the regular Burner and it was a terrible club for me. Extremely shut face, extra long and extra light shaft. It's like I asked them to build the worst possible driver for me. But 2 out of 5 times I hit it great. The 10.5 hit like a 12 or 13 degree.

All three of them are good clubs, and yes I am partial to TM myself so I understand your loyalty.

My league golf partner has the Tour Burner. Very nice looking club, and it hits much further than my SQ or my King Cobra... But I am used to the more forgiving drivers with a larger sweet spot. So I find the Tour Burner a little harder for me to hit consistently, and in my opinion I find it to have a somewhat numb feeling. It just seems to be made for distance and not workability.

Where as I feel that the SQ is really about accuracy and workability. I must admit even my King Cobra has better distance than my SQ but I feel that they serve two different purposes, which is why I have both in my trunk and switch between the two based upon the course I am playing. For instance if I am playing long Par4's and 5's with minimal hazards I grab the Cobra. But when I am on a more technical course with doglegs and many hazards I find the SQ is a better choice.

In the end you should demo both of them and see what works the best for you.

I am a superquad owner/lover.

Its not exactly forgiving, i mean, its big, but its not gonna help you a whol lot.

If you upgrade the burners shaft, its not a big deal, but i cant hit tiwht the stock 46 inch shaft. hooked like crazy.

Also, if you play a nautral draw, you will probobly need a tp, If you slice or fade whatever, you can get by with a non tp.

I use a superquad and its great, haven't tested out the burners so I couldn't tell you

Just bought the 2007 Burner for $199.99 at Chicks.

I was looking into all 3 clubs becuase I have always used TayloMade drivers. Before I purchased the Burner I was playing a R580. I liked the driver but I needed a more "forgiving" head. I really wanted the SuperQuad, but I think the extra weight would get me into trouble.

I'm really happy with my Burner. I hit longer and 100x straighter then my old R580. Oh and btw, its a stiff flex with a 9.5*. It feels very comforteble and I believe its the easiest to hit out of all 3. You may not get the distance like the SuperQuad or Tour Burner, but it works for long and straight.

Overall I'm happy and hopefully will have lower scores to come.

i have the tour burner and just changed out the shaft to a graphite design ys7 plus. the stock shaft was not as stiff as i need. other than that i love the club. very loonnngg
