Once the glove goes on, it stays on. I have a couple extras in the bag for rainy days or a change is needed during the round for sweat or whatever. It's one less thing I have to think about.

I always try to remember to take it off while putting. I have enough problems as it is when putting and I honestly believe that I get a better feel without it when putting.

Same. As I walk toward the green I got in the habit of taking it off. Definitely feel more "connected" to the putter. Too bad my putts per round doesn't reflect it.

I do not use one. I want complete feel with the putter and the glove does not give me that. It is just an opinion though.

I take mine off after every shot. I've found that my gloves last longer the less time I keep them on my hand.

Unless it helps your 'feel' as some people have said, there's no difference. Honestly, I don't care if I putt with or without a glove, I know it's not going in the hole unless I'm less than five feet out anyways lol... if Tiger was wearing a Nike hat during his round and took it off when he putted you would all probably think you should take off your hats when putting :p

Things I Am Good at in Golf

- Hitting it in the drink
- Finding the rough with my drive
- Staying in the bunker- Hitting grassburners all the way to the hole- Three putting- Posting over par on 18 in only 9 holes- Swinging and missing with an iron

Ask yourself this: Why do you wear a golf glove?

A: For grip. Ask yourself again: Do you need grip that much grip during a putting stroke? A: Not unless you are putting 300' uphill into the wind.

I take my glove off after my approach shot to any green...basically if I have less than 40 yards to the hole, the glove is in the back right pocket!

Same.

It's entirely a "feel" thing. I feel more comfortable with my glove off while putting. But there is no shame in leaving it on.

I take my glove off. Few reasons...

1) It feels better in my hand
2) I like to let my fingers breathe

Wrong answer for the first one :p I only wear mine because I get blisters if I don't. But regardless, I do think it's pretty unnecessary to take the time to take off your glove before you putt.

When I started playing as a kid, the pros I watched all took theirs off, so naturally I imitated them. So now, it feels comfortable to have it off.

For most amateurs, I doubt there's a difference in performance. Do what feels comfortable.

It would be interesting to design and perform an experiment on how wearing a glove or "going bare" affects putting performance.

One could select a number of players at different handicap levels, including pros, and have them put a certain number of balls, say 100, from different distances, etc. The player gets money or some other valuable incentive for each putt made, or within 2 feet of the hole for long putts. My guess is there would be much less difference than what most of us think.

I have always found it indifferent of my performance in putting. I do enjoy having the glove off for sweat dry out, etc. as mentioned before.

My major reason for taking my glove off inside 60 yards is for my pitching and lob shots. For some reason I really feel more comfortable with my swings without the glove - although I never have been sure why. Maybe it is one less thing for me to think about when chipping - who knows.

I'm a beginner. I've tried both and agree with those who say without the glove they get more feel. I'm going to put without the glove. It does come down to whatever works best for you.

    • In terms of ball striking, not really. Ball striking being how good you are at hitting the center of the clubface with the swing path you want and the loft you want to present at impact.  In terms of getting better launch conditions for the current swing you have, it is debatable.  It depends on how you swing and what your current launch conditions are at. These are fine tuning mechanisms not significant changes. They might not even be the correct fine tuning you need. I would go spend the $100 to $150 dollars in getting a club fitting over potentially wasting money on changes that ChatGPT gave you.  New grips are important. Yes, it can affect swing weight, but it is personal preference. Swing weight is just one component.  Overall weight effects the feel. The type of golf shaft effects the feel of the club in the swing. Swing weight effects the feel. You can add so much extra weight to get the swing weight correct and it will feel completely different because the total weight went up. Imagine swinging a 5lb stick versus a 15lb stick. They could be balanced the same (swing weight), but one will take substantially more effort to move.  I would almost say swing weight is an old school way of fitting clubs. Now, with launch monitors, you could just fit the golfer. You could have two golfers with the same swing speed that want completely different swing weight. It is just personal preference. You can only tell that by swinging a golf club.
    • Thanks for the comments. I fully understand that these changes won't make any big difference compared to getting a flawless swing but looking to give myself the best chance of success at where I am and hopefully lessons will improve the swing along the way. Can these changes make minor improvements to ball striking and misses then that's fine. From what I understood about changing the grips, which is to avoid them slipping in warm and humid conditions, is that it will affect the swing weight since midsize are heavier than regular and so therefore adding weight to the club head would be required to avoid a change of feel in the club compared to before?
    • I think part of it is there hasn't been enough conclusive studies specific to golf regarding block studies. Maybe the full swing, you can't study it because it is too complicated and to some degree it will fall into variable or random.
    • Going one step stiffer in the golf shaft, of the same make and model will have minor impact on the launch conditions. It can matter, it is a way to dial in some launch conditions if you are a few hundred RPM off or the angle isn't there. Same with moving weights around. A clubhead weights 200-220 grams. You are shifting a fraction of that to move the CG slightly. It can matter, again its more about fine tuning. As for grip size, this is more personal preference. Grip size doesn't have any impact on the swing out of personal preference.  You are going to spend hundreds of dollars for fine tuning. Which if you want, go for it. I am not sure what your level of play is, or what your goals in golf are.  In the end, the golf swing matters more than the equipment. If you want to go to that level of detail, go find a good golf club fitter. ChatGPT is going to surface scan reddit, golfwrx, and other popular websites for the answers. Basically, it is all opinionated gibberish at this point.
